Bremotion was honest on how the 2024 season didn’t live up to their expectations after yet another mixed weekend in the EuroNASCAR Finals at Circuit Zolder.
Bremotion conceded that their 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series campaign had not lived up to the expectations that the German team had built from the successful 2023 season.
Bremotion’s team director Patrick Brenndörfer spoke about it on the team’s press release after EuroNASCAR Finals at Circuit Zolder, a round that brought a mixed set of results for both the No. 77 Auto Rehberg Camaro and the No. 99 IZECC Camaro.
“With the finale in Zolder, we are ending a season that did not live up to our expectations,” said Brenndörfer.
“After we had two wins in Oschersleben and Zolder in 2023, we wanted to have a say in the championship title with Tobias this year. But luck was not on our side this season.”
“Starting with the opener in Valencia, when we lost the sure victory in the penultimate lap due to a technical defect, further retirements followed through no fault of our own.”
“However, Julien was able to impress in his debut season and showed a strong performance with six rookie wins. Dominique was also able to improve continuously and celebrate two podiums.”
Tobias Dauenhauer was again luckless at Zolder, having been eliminated from both races courtesy of a gearbox failure and a restart incident with Race Art Technology’s Thomas Toffel.
With four DNF’s out of four double points Playoffs races, Dauenhauer was relegated to 13th place in the overall standings. The German was sixth entering the Playoffs, showing just how many points he had lost.
Teammate Dominique Schaak only fared slightly better. The German only finished 21st and 19th, but it will serve as a good experience for the 34-year old given that he has confirmed his stay with Bremotion for 2025.
Fortunately for Bremotion, Julien Rehberg brought some excellent results with the No. 77 Camaro. The 18-year old made his first double duty appearance for the first time since Vallelunga and the added track time proved to be beneficial.
Rehberg swept the Rookie Trophy in Zolder and while his losses at Most and Oschersleben were too much to overcome, the German climbed back up to 13th overall in the standings and finish inside the overall Rookie Trophy top-3.
Rehberg also took his first Junior Trophy podium in EuroNASCAR PRO, finishing an impressive ninth in Race 1 after a race-long battle with Ryan Vargas.
Unfortunately, a bid for a double Junior Trophy podium vanished after Rehberg got involved in a first lap incident with Vargas, Lucas Lasserre and Fabrizio Armetta on Race 2. The collision eliminated him on the spot.
