Having the fastest car is often the key to winning in the NASCAR Euro Series. A clear indication of a machine’s speed is its ability to set the fastest lap time during a race.
Since the first season of NASCAR Whelen Euro Series under official NASCAR sanctioning in 2012, a total of 28 different drivers and 21 different teams have scored the fastest lap award during a race session in NASCAR Whelen Euro Series’ top division EuroNASCAR PRO.

Ander Vilariño currently holds the record for the most fastest laps in a single EuroNASCAR PRO season with eight (8).
Vilariño earned the fastest lap award in eight of the twelve races held in 2013, a feat that has yet to be matched or beaten by another driver since.

Ander Vilariño currently holds the record for the most fastest laps in their debut EuroNASCAR PRO season with five (5).
While Vilariño has made appearances in the series prior to NASCAR’s takeover, the five fastest laps that he scored on EuroNASCAR’s first season under NASCAR sanctioning in 2012 still stands as the EuroNASCAR PRO record to this day.

YOUNGEST DRIVER TO SET THE FASTEST LAP
Ulysse Delsaux is the youngest driver to set a fastest lap in EuroNASCAR PRO. Delsaux was 18 years and 278 days old when he set the best race lap time in Race 2 of the 2016 Tours Motor Show at Tours Speedway.
Delsaux beat the previous record set by Eddie Cheever III, who was 21 years and 107 days old when he set the fastest lap in the second race of the 2014 Autodromo Umbria SemiFinals at Autodromo dell’Umbria.

OLDEST DRIVER TO SET THE FASTEST LAP
Jacques Villeneuve is the oldest driver to set a fastest lap in EuroNASCAR PRO. Villeneuve was 50 years and 204 days old when he set the best lap time in the first race of the 2021 American Festival of Rome at Autodromo Vallelunga.
He beat the previous record set by Marc Goossens, who was 48 years and 171 days old when he secured the fastest lap award in the second race of the 2018 NASCAR GP of Italy at Autodromo di Franciacorta.

FEWEST RACES BEFORE FIRST FASTEST LAP
Four drivers have managed to set the fastest lap in their first EuroNASCAR PRO race. Javier Villa (pictured) became the first driver to do so in the first EuroNASCAR PRO race under NASCAR’s official sanctioning at Circuit Paul Armagnac in 2012.
That same year, Gaël Castelli achieved the same feat in his first start at the Le Mans Finals. Fellow countryman Éric Hélary followed in the next year when he set the best lap time in his first NASCAR-era start at Tours Speedway.
It would take ten years before someone else achieved it again. That driver is Paul Jouffreau, who did it in the first race of the 2023 American Festival of Rome at Autodromo Vallelunga.

Lasserre’s first fastest lap award came in Race 1 of the 2023 EuroNASCAR Finals at Circuit Zolder, which was the sixty-fifth (65) race of his illustrious career.

BEST PERCENTAGE OF CAREER FASTEST LAPS
Gaël Castelli currently holds the record for the best percentage of career fastest laps in EuroNASCAR PRO.
Castelli set the best lap time in both races of the 2012 Le Mans Finals. As it was the only EuroNASCAR races of his career, this made him the only driver with a perfect 100% career percentage in fastest lap.

LONGEST GAP BETWEEN TWO FASTEST LAPS
Ander Vilariño (pictured) and Nicolò Rocca currently holds the record for the longest gap between two EuroNASCAR PRO fastest laps.
Vilariño was the first to achieve it, as his fastest lap in the first race of the 2019 Valencia NASCAR Fest came 3 years and 290 days after the 2015 Tours Motor Show at Tours Speedway.
Just a few months later, Rocca tied the record with the fastest lap in Race 1 of the 2019 OMV MaxxMotion NASCAR Show at Autodrom Most, his first since the 2015 Magione American Style at Autodromo dell’Umbria.
