Having the fastest car is often the key to winning in the NASCAR Euro Series. A clear indication of a machine’s speed is its ability to set the fastest lap time during a race.
Since the first season of NASCAR Whelen Euro Series under official NASCAR sanctioning in 2012, a total of 42 different drivers and 22 different teams have set the fastest lap during a race session in NASCAR Whelen Euro Series’ junior division EuroNASCAR 2.

MOST FASTEST LAPS IN A SEASON
Stienes Longin currently holds the record for the most fastest laps in a single EuroNASCAR OPEN season with eight (8).
Longin earned the fastest lap award in eight of the twelve races held in 2016, a feat that tied the all-time EuroNASCAR record. It has yet to be matched or beaten by another driver in the division.

MOST FASTEST LAPS IN DEBUT SEASON
Anthony Gandon currently holds the record for the most fastest laps in their debut EuroNASCAR OPEN season with six (6).
Gandon’s spectacular pace enabled him to set the fastest lap in six of the twelve races held in 2013, easily breaking the previous record of two (2) set in 2012, the inaugural EuroNASCAR OPEN season under NASCAR sanctioning.

YOUNGEST DRIVER TO SET THE FASTEST LAP
Thomas Ferrando is the youngest driver to set a fastest lap in EuroNASCAR OPEN. Ferrando was 16 years and 332 days old when he set the best race lap time in the second race of the 2014 American SpeedFest II at Brands Hatch.
Ferrando beat the previous record set by Gabriele Volpato, who was 16 years and 345 days old when he set the fastest lap in the first race of the 2013 Dijon 200 at Dijon-Prenois.

OLDEST DRIVER TO SET THE FASTEST LAP
Eric Quintal is the oldest driver to set a fastest lap in EuroNASCAR OPEN. Quintal was 48 years and 105 days old when he set the best lap time in the second race of the 2012 Valencia SemiFinals at Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
He beat the previous record set by Adriano Medeiros, who was 39 years and 300 days old when he set the fastest lap in the first race of the 2012 Brands Hatch 200 at Brands Hatch.

FEWEST RACES BEFORE FIRST FASTEST LAP
Nine drivers have managed to set the fastest lap time in their first EuroNASCAR OPEN race. Vincent Gonneau (pictured) became the first driver to do so in the first EuroNASCAR OPEN race under NASCAR’s official sanctioning at Circuit Paul Armagnac in 2012.
Four more drivers then followed Gonneau’s feat in the same season: Adriano Medeiros at Brands Hatch, Loic Deman at Spa-Francorchamps, Josh Burdon at Valencia, and Olivier Porta at Le Mans.
Neal van Vaerenbergh was the sixth, achieving the feat at Valencia in 2014. Three years later, Italian driver Denny Zardo became the seventh driver to do so during EuroNASCAR’s first visit to Franciacorta.
Myatt Snider became the first American driver to achieve the feat – and eighth overall – with his fastest lap at Valencia in 2019. Tobias Dauenhauer are currently the latest to repeat the occasion with his incredible performance at Valleunga in 2020.

Doubek’s first fastest lap award came in the 2019 American Car Fest at Raceway Venray, the thirty-third (33) race of his OPEN career.

Neal van Vaerenbergh currently holds the record for the best percentage of career fastest laps in EuroNASCAR OPEN.
Castelli set the fastest lap time in both races of the 2014 Valencia NASCAR Fest. As it was the only EuroNASCAR races of his career, this made him the only driver with a perfect 100% fastest lap percentage in EN2.
