Alfa Revival Cup, a historic championship for Alfa Romeo race cars, will act as the headline support event for EuroNASCAR during the 2025 NASCAR GP Italy at Vallelunga.

An unique brand of historic car championship will be featured as EuroNASCAR’s headline support event during the 2025 American Festival of Rome at Vallelunga: Alfa Revival Cup.

Alfa Revival Cup is an Italian-based historic championship reserved for Alfa Romeo racing cars built between 1947 to 1981. It is a long-time mainstay in the Italian historic motorsport scene, with the championship going strong ever since its inaugural season in 2012.

“This weekend, the Alfa Revival Cup heads to the Vallelunga circuit near Rome for the second round of the 2025 edition,” announced Alfa Revival Cup in its latest press release

“It’s a unique chance for fans to see the cars that shaped Alfa Romeo’s legacy in Touring and GT racing up close, all in the friendly atmosphere of the paddock.”

“The area is open to the public with free entry and the chance to meet drivers, mechanics and teams, and ask questions, explore curiosities or simply admire the cars up close. In addition, a truly special opportunity: the chance to step onto the grid before the race begins.”

While the championship’s description implies that any Alfa Romeo race cars from the permitted time period are eligible for the championship, including endurance prototypes and Formula One cars, it is not the case.

The official Sporting and Technical Regulations states that only touring cars are eligible for the championship. This includes production-based Touring and Grand Touring cars and the highly modified Group 5 silhouette monsters.

The championship is organized by Canossa Events Srl, who are no strangers to historic motorsport. Founded in 2011, Canossa Events organized numerous classic car meetings and championships all across Italy every year.

For the 2025 season, Canossa Events expanded the Alfa Revival Cup to include two international events. Both happen to be on the extreme ends of the calendar: The season opener at Red Bull Ring and the finale at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.

The round at Red Bull Ring attracted the special cameo of ex-F1 driver Christian Danner. Danner competed alongside Mathias Körber in Körber’s Alfa Romeo GTAm, finishing fourth overall.

Danner will not be competing at Vallelunga, but one who will be racing is the championship leader Davide Bertinelli. Bertinelli is last year’s champion, beating the pair of Emilio Petrone and Giacomo Barri in a closely contested championship battle.

Bartinelli will be joined by 18 other teams, most fielding Alfa Romeo GTAm’s. Out of the 19 crews, there will be 27 drivers from four countries that will be racing in the same weekend as EuroNASCAR during the 2025 American Festival of Rome.

“The Vallelunga weekend will also feature the NASCAR Euro Series, offering a fast-paced race programme in pure American style that includes majorettes,” adds the Alfa Revival Cup.

“It will be interesting to compare the lap times of the Alfa Romeo’s with the American muscle cars, just like in the past when the Biscione’s cars often held their own against more powerful but far heavier rivals.”

Qualifying for the Alfa Revival Cup will be held on Saturday at 15:55 local time, right in between the EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR OPEN races that day.

This trend will continue for the Alfa Revival Cup’s main event. In between Sunday’s OPEN and PRO races, Alfa Revival Cup will host their one-hour long feature race starting from 12:30 local time.
