A NASCAR Euro Series star is heading to Brazil for the 2026 NASCAR Brasil Series Playoffs. Thomas Krasonis will make the overseas trip to South America after he was announced as one of AMattheis Vogel Motorsport’s drivers in the upcoming rounds at Chapecó and Brasilia.

The Greek will make his debut at the newly inaugurated Autódromo Internacional de Chapecó, which will host NASCAR Brasil on its 1.452 kilometer oval layout on 31 October-1 November.

He is also scheduled to compete in the season finale at Autódromo Internacional de Brasília on 28-29 November, where NASCAR Brasil is expected to compete at Brasília’s 2.828 kilometer External Circuit.

Krasonis became just the second NASCAR Euro Series driver to compete in the NASCAR Brasil Series. The Greek racer followed the footsteps of Arianna Casoli, who raced in the 2024 season finale at Cristais.

Krasonis’ NASCAR Brasil participation builds upon his successful 2026 EuroNASCAR campaign, where he finished fifth in the recently completed V8GP season.

Driving the No. 13 Costamare Inc. Camaro for PK Carsport, Krasonis scored a total of four podiums and eight top-10 finishes.

The Greek also secured three pole positions, which was enough for the Athens-born driver to win the special watch from Strom Watches as the driver with the most V8GP pole positions this season.

He is tied for the most V8GP pole positions with Garrett Lowe, but Krasonis won the award due to his higher championship finish.

Additionally, the 25-year old brought home three Junior Trophy wins to put him second overall in the classification’s standings.

Krasonis’ addition bolsters the strong line-up of drivers that AMattheis Vogel had in the 2026 NASCAR Brasil Series season.

AMattheis Vogel fielded a strong four-car team, featuring 2026 race winners Gabriel Casagrande and Nicolas Costa and two talented youngsters in Guilherme Backes and Juninho Berlanda.

Joining a powerhouse team like AMattheis Vogel showed Krasonis’ serious intent to compete for the best results possible in his South American racing debut.

“I’m very happy that I get to keep racing this year since I really believe I have more to give,” said Krasonis to nascar.eu.

“After a huge effort for the V8GP title fight where I had a lot of unlucky moments, I want to take this opportunity and enjoy two racing weekends without points pressure and just have fun. I want to thank AMattheis Vogel for this opportunity as well as my sponsor Costamare Shipping.”

NASCAR Brasil’s Playoffs builds upon the successful regular season finale at Cristais, where Tatiana Calderón became the first female and Colombian driver to win in the championship following her dominant win in Race 2 at the 1.250 kilometer oval.

Calderón’s victory secured her entry to the 12-driver strong Playoffs grid, which is currently led by 2025 runners-up Thiago Camilo.

Camilo holds a single point advantage to Arthur Gama, while AMattheis Vogel’s best hopes rests on Casagrande, who trails Camilo by 13 points. Teammate Costa is fifth with a 67 point gap to catch in the last two rounds of the season.

Krasonis will not be the only new addition to the Chapecó round. Sérgio Ramalho returned to the series to race for Team RC, while Full-Time Sports and Cavaleiro Sports added two new rookies in Antonella Bassani and Rafaela Ferreira.

Bassani and Ferreira’s Playoffs entry meant that NASCAR Brasil are set to have four female drivers competing in the same round. They joined Calderón and Bruna Tomaselli, who are racing full-time for SG28 Racing in 2026.
