Armed with knowledge of the upcoming tracks, Dominique Schaak is optimistic that he can score Rookie Trophy podiums in the second half of the 2024 season.
The 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season will be back in action next week for the NASCAR GP Czech Republic at Autodrom Most, a prospect that has brought optimism to Bremotion’s rookie EuroNASCAR 2 driver Dominique Schaak.
Schaak is currently making his full season debut in EuroNASCAR, having already joined Bremotion on his home race at Oschersleben in 2023. The 33-year old driver has made steady progress and is inching closer to his first Rookie Trophy podium of the year.

The transition from GT racing to stock cars has not been easy, but Schaak told André Wiegold on euronascar.com that Bremotion and teammate Tobias Dauenhauer has been doing a great job in the guidance that they’ve brought to the team.
“It’s getting better and better,” said Schaak. “The team is doing a great job and I feel really comfortable. It’s only Bremotion’s second season in EuroNASCAR and of course they are still learning, but they are doing a fantastic job.”
“My EuroNASCAR PRO teammate Tobias Dauenhauer helps me a lot with his rich experience. He’s a great talent and he’s going to climb his way up for sure.”

Schaak admits that the results in the first half of the season has been lower than what he would’ve liked, but he remains happy as he was facing a high level of competition in both the overall championship and the Rookie Trophy.
He’s also confident that he can turn his performance around as the tracks that EuroNASCAR would visit for the second half of the season have been visited by the German driver before.
“The first race weekend in Valencia wasn’t good for me. I couldn’t race in the first race and was pushed out in the second. I’m 17th overall in EuroNASCAR 2, but if I could have finished in my average position every time, I could have been 13th or 14th.”

“I missed the podium in the Rookie Trophy for the fourth time now, but there are a lot of fast drivers in the class and to be fifth out of eleven rookies is pretty good.”
“My goal is to get one or two rookie podiums in the second half of the season. I know Most, Oschersleben and Zolder, but I didn’t know the tracks from the first half of the season, so I needed more time to get up to speed.”
