Andreas Kuchelbacher is the official Club Challenge winner at Vallelunga after further review were made following the discovery of a glitch in the timing system.
A glitch in the timing system has resulted in the wrong winner being announced for EuroNASCAR Club Challenge in last month’s American Festival of Rome at Autodromo Vallelunga.
After the issues were determined and fixed, SpeedHouse Racing’s Andreas Kuchelbacher is now declared as the winner of Club Challenge. The revised timing listed the Austrian as the winner of the first session, allowing him to gain enough points to win the class outright.

“The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series overturned the results of the Club Challenge event at the Autodromo di Vallelunga, Italy,” announced EuroNASCAR on 4 June. “A technical problem – a glitch in the software – led to a miscalculation of the drivers’ five closest laps to the reference times in the sessions.”
“An intensive investigation by EuroNASCAR led to the revision of the results after Kuchelbacher filed an official complaint against the results calculated at the track. The Austrian Speedhouse driver’s claim was right and it gave him the overall win of the Club Challenge in Italy.”

Kuchelbacher officially exited the Vallelunga round with 75 points to his tally. Bruno Costa and Reza Sardeha remained on the podium while Gordon Barnes, the original winner of the round, dropped down to fourth in the revised final results.
“Andreas Kuchelbacher was declared the winner of the event with a total of 75 points in the two sessions,” adds EuroNASCAR.
“Reza Sardeha moved up to second place with 70 points, level on points with Bruno Costa, who finished third. Reigning champion Gordon Barnes, originally in first place, dropped to fourth with 69 points, while Federico Monti completed the top-5.”

The revised results meant that Barnes’ lead to Federico Monti in the Club Challenge standings has been slashed considerably. The Brit now only has a two point lead from the Italian, down from a seven point lead that he had previously.
Kuchelbacher’s victory promotes him to third, just four points behind Barnes. Edouard Fatio dropped down to fourth while Sardeha, Costa, Kelvin Hassell, Dani Briz, Yann Schar and Mario Buscemi maintained their positions in the overall standings.
