Despite issues for lead driver Tobias Dauenhauer, German team Bremotion remains happy with what they’ve achieved in their home race at Oschersleben.

Expectations were high at Bremotion when they entered the 2024 NASCAR GP Germany. The German team won their home round in 2023, so naturally they expect big things for their second merry-go-round at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

Unfortunately, the results came up short as mechanical issues prevented their star driver Tobias Dauenhauer from scoring big points.

However, team boss Patrick Brenndörfer remains proud with what his team had achieved in the first Playoff round of the 2024 season.

“After our first overall victory last year in Oschersleben, we arrived with great expectations,” said Brenndörfer in Bremotion’s post-race press release. “Unfortunately, we didn’t have the necessary racing luck on our side this time.”

“Tobias had to accept two retirements, which is reflected in the overall standings. Nevertheless, the home race was a complete success thanks to the podium finishes of Julien and Dominique.”

“A big thank you goes to the 16,500 fans and our 350 invited guests who made the weekend an unforgettable event.”

Dauenhauer was suffering from one mechanical issue after another and the 27-year old retired early in both races. Leadlap revealed that power steering and wishbone failure were the cause of the retirements.

This all but eliminated Dauenhauer from the title race, as he now have a deficit of 116 points to championship leader Vittorio Ghirelli with only a maximum of 176 points to get in the season finale at Zolder.

Driving partner Dominique Schaak had a much better time in the No. 99 IZECC Camaro. The weekend was special to Schaak as he got to celebrate his 34th birthday alongside his family, team, guests, and fans.

The home support and birthday motivation gave Schaak the energy to perform well at Oschersleben. He took a third place finish in the Rookie Trophy in Race 1 and was on course for another Rookie Trophy podium in Race 2 when he had a spin that compromised his chances.

EuroNASCAR 2 compatriot Julien Rehberg had a much more dramatic time on his first home round. Rehberg had a first lap collision with Simone Giussani in Race 1 that initially resulted in a 30-second time penalty for the German driver.

Fortunately, further review discovered that Rehberg was innocent and the penalty was rescinded, allowing him to join Schaak in the Rookie Trophy podium in tenth place overall. However, Rehberg was also unable to repeat the feat in Race 2 after he suffered a rear-right puncture on the opening lap.

The No. 77 Auto Rehberg Camaro team also welcomed back Constantin Schöll, who took part in his first road course event. In contrast to his teammates, Schöll had an uneventful but clean weekend.

The Austrian took home 15th and 13th place finishes, as well as bonus points for most positions gained in Race 2.
