Our first Race Preview for the 2024 NASCAR GP Germany takes a look at the changes that had been announced in the Provisional Entry List for Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series will start the 2024 Playoffs this weekend with their second ever visit to the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the home for the NASCAR GP Germany.
After Vittorio Ghirelli and Martin Doubek top the regular season standings in EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR 2 respectively, the competition kicks into top gear with a stretch of four double points paying races that will amp up the tension and excitement for drivers, teams and fans alike.
For the first time in a long while, there are no changes in the Teams side as all 27 teams that took part in the previous round at Autodrom Most will be returning for the start of the Playoffs at Oschersleben.
This includes the Club Motorsport’s No. 55 team and Team Bleekemolen’s No. 66 and No. 69 squads, all three having managed to successfully complete the repair of their machines.
EuroNASCAR PRO’s own Entry List also sees a relative stability in its entrant count, with 24 drivers scheduled to take part in Germany.
The only notable change to note was the return of Constantin Scholl, who is set to drive Bremotion’s No. 77 Auto Rehberg Camaro in what is effectively a home race for the Austrian that debuted at Venray.
In contrast, there are several significant changes that will take place in EuroNASCAR 2, which had 23 drivers listed in the Entry List. Most notably, Sven van Laere’s retirement has left an opening in the No. 54 CAAL Racing Camaro.
This open seat will be taken by former Lady Trophy winner Lulo del Castello, who returns as Gianmarco Ercoli’s teammate for Germany and presumably for the season finale at Zolder as well.
Club Motorsport also made changes by bringing back their Brands Hatch line-up of Giovanni Faraonio and Gordon Barnes. Just like last time, Faraonio will accompany Riccardo Romagnoli in the No. 43 Camaro while Barnes joins Fabrizio Armetta in the lead No. 55 Dinoil Camaro.
The theme of stability returns in EuroNASCAR Club Challenge as all eight points contending drivers will be back behind the wheel of their trusty contenders.
Even though the class is run under regularity rules, it remains as one of the divisions to watch as primary challengers Barnes, Reza Sardeha, Federico Monti and Bruno Costa are separated by just three points.
As always, there’s several ENPRO and EN2 drivers entered under the non-championship extra practice provisions, although one driver will take part for a different purpose.
The injured Roberto Benedetti will make his return via Club Challenge as an opportunity for the Italian to test if he’s fit for a full return at the Zolder Finals in October.
