NASCAR Cup star Daniel Suárez headlines a field of 31 drivers that are entered for NASCAR Brasil Series’ fifth round of the 2024 season at Interlagos.

After a month and a half, NASCAR Brasil Series returns to the track this weekend for the fifth round of the 2024 season at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace – better known as Interlagos – in São Paulo.

The drivers will be looking forward to not only the first set of the Special Edition mini-championship, but also for the arrival of the first current US NASCAR competitor to compete in the series: Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suárez.

Suárez will headline a field of 31 drivers and 24 cars, as revealed in the Entry List published by Motorsport.com on 31 July. The Mexican is assigned to race the No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro “entered” by Singus Competition in the top NASCAR Brasil class.

A chance to race alongside a driver on Suarez’s caliber is one that the championship’s heavy-hitters such as Léonardo Reis, Vitor Genz and the pair of Gabriel Casagrande and Alex Seid will take with both hands.

In total, 16 drivers from 12 cars will be competing in the NASCAR Brasil division. Two will be making their series debuts: Suárez and Portuguese driver Tiago Gonçalves, who will deputize for Lourenço Beirão in the No. 20 Squadro Ford Mustang.

Thiago Lopes is also set for a surprise move to NASCAR Brasil’s top class. Despite poor performance in his debut at Potenza, the Belo Horizonte driver is listed to race alongside championship leader Reis in the No. 32 Ford Mustang.

This presented the opportunity for the likes of Genz and Casagrande/Seid to catch up to Reis on the overall championship, given that Reis will be saddled with what is effectively a live success ballast for this weekend.

Reigning champion Léo Torres also returns to the series with the No. 2 Ford Mustang, previously driven by Nick Monteiro in the earlier rounds.

Additionally, Luan Lopes will now compete as a solo driver, racing the No. 99 Chevrolet Camaro on his own for Interlagos.

Lopes’ teammate Beto Monteiro will move down to the Challenge class to assist Marcel Jorand in the No. 39 Gas Verde Camaro. Beto and Jorand joined 13 other drivers in Challenge’s Entry List, which were also split into a field of 12 cars.

Four other changes will take place for the Challenge class. Zezinho “Ze” Muggiati will join forces alongside Luís Trombini once again in the No. 63 Philco Camaro, while Felipinho Tozzo will receive some help from Júlio Campos in the No. 57 Super Carros Camaro.

Rafael Seibel is set for his first race of the season with the No. 81 Leo Ford Mustang. Lastly, Portuguese driver Antonio Carvalho returns to the No. 44 Chevrolet Camaro after his maiden appearance during the oval race at Goiânia.
