Lux Motorsport felt happy with the results that they achieved on their oval racing debut with Jack Davidson and Liam Lambert at Raceway Venray’s EuroNASCAR event.
Lux Motorsport was happy with their performance in the 2024 NASCAR Oval GP at Raceway Venray, which was the Scottish team’s first ever outing in an oval circuit.
Despite the team coming to the Netherlands with plenty of momentum from their historic victory in their home race at Brands Hatch, Lux set themselves no expectations as they knew that the oval race is a different ball game to what they’re used to.
Featuring Jack Davidson in his usual EuroNASCAR 2 seat and series debutant Liam Lambert for EuroNASCAR PRO, the team were pleased with Davidson and Lambert’s quick adaptation behind the wheel of the No. 21 GT Omega Camaro at the half-mile oval.

“Overall as a team, we were happy with how the whole meeting went,” said Lux Motorsport on their Venray weekend to World of EuroNASCAR. “Having zero oval experience, we had no expectations to repeat our Brands Hatch result.”
“Both Jack and Liam quickly got to grips with the circuit and set to work on car setup with the limited testing time available. Jack did a solid job, scoring good points after qualifying seventh and a good battle with Patrick [Schober] to finish seventh.”
“Liam had great pace, but unfortunately didn’t get to show it with his limited seat time in the car. He struggled to get heat in the tyres on Qualifying, finishing P15.”
“In the race, he made a great start to P12. He had a small mistake when he hit the wall hard at turn 3, but carried on with a fairly damaged car until the late stages where power steering failure brought him to a halt.”

Lambert’s return to Lux was one of the leading stories for Lux in the Oval GP. Lambert and Davidson competed together in the 2020 Mini Challenge UK season and after four years in their separate paths, both were reunited for their first outing as teammates in EuroNASCAR.
Interestingly, Lambert revealed on his Trackside Show with Andre Wiegold that he grew up in the BriSCA racing scene. His father was a regular BriSCA competitor and Lambert toured alongside his father on his racing journey across Europe.
This included several visits to the half-kilometer oval of Circuit de Peel, better known these days as the “old Venray”. This factoid was of interest for Lux, who affirmed that Lambert’s knowledge of Venray helped with their preparation for the NASCAR Oval GP.

“We are super happy to have Liam back in the team!” said Lux on Lambert’s EuroNASCAR debut. “He raced with us in the 2020 JCW Mini Challenge, but he jumped at the chance to race at Venray!
“His knowledge of oval racing and setting up the car is invaluable as you may have seen. We made big steps every time we were on track which is what we needed when there wasn’t much testing available.”
Trackside Show also revealed an additional challenge that Lux faced at Venray. In Davidson’s interview on Saturday, the Scotsman said that he felt a sore arm after he completed the EN2 Qualifying session.
Driver fitness was an issue that the competitors had to overcome during the Venray weekend, including Lux who had to come up with a solution to Davidson and Lambert’s problems.

“Unfortunately Jack has been nursing an arm issue all year, which actually affects him more on circuits than it did on the oval,” said Lux on the physicality of oval racing.
“However, the biggest challenge for both Jack and Liam was the neck, so we had to add extra padding in the seat to help support the helmet.”
Lux is heading to the summer break in a good position for the EuroNASCAR 2 championship battle. Davidson is currently sixth with 190 points, only 23 points adrift from second-placed Gil Linster. The team also currently sits 19th in the Endurance Teams Championship with 66 points.
