EuroNASCAR’s support series EuroLegend Cup will not be racing in 2024 due to continued issues with earning the permission to host events.

The all-European legends car series EuroLegend Cup that supported the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series last year will not be racing in 2024 after series organizer GP2EMME announced the cancellation of this year’s season.

GP2EMME was forced to cancel the season as the series continues to struggle in obtaining the permission to host events from the countries where it’s due to be racing, stating that obtaining “approval in every country” will be EuroLegend Cup’s goal in 2024.

“EuroLegend Cup is forced to renounce the 2024 season with great regret: GP2EMME will complete the paths started in the past season of recognition of the Legend Cars so as not to encounter the problems of 2023 in European territory,” announced GP2EMME on 13 February.

“This year EuroLegend Cup wants to capitalize on the great interest aroused in the event and correct the stumbles along the way so as to attract not only Italian drivers with the ACI Sport homologation, but also drivers from those countries that do not allow the Legends to race on racetracks.”

“An operation that takes time, this is why GP2EMME gave up an event lacking in appointments to return an attractive calendar in 2025.”

EuroLegend Cup was due to make its return in 2024 with a five-round calendar, featuring four races – Valencia, Vallelunga, Venray and Most – as a support event for EuroNASCAR and a standalone round in Croatia’s Automotodrom Grobnik.

The Misano round itself serves as a replacement for the planned rounds in Oschersleben and Zolder, both of which were canceled after Deutscher Motor Sport Bund (DMSB) and Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB) did not give EuroLegend Cup the permission to race in Germany and Belgium respectively.

At least one EuroLegend Cup driver from 2023 will be involved with the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series this year: Simone Giusanni, who is due to make his EuroNASCAR 2 debut with Double V Racing.
