Max Lanza will not take part in this week’s EuroNASCAR Finals at Circuit Zolder due to a sudden family emergency.
A sudden breaking news from yesterday saw the confirmation that Max Lanza, the EuroNASCAR PRO driver of CAAL Racing‘s No. 88 Wakala/Avangarde Group Chevrolet Camaro, will not be competing in this weekend’s EuroNASCAR Finals.
Through a post on social media, Lanza revealed that he wants to stay with his family for the time being as they “need his support”, with a later announcement through his official website revealing that a major family emergency has happened just recently.
Lanza will thus forfeit his chance to compete for the overall Challenger Trophy contention at Zolder. He currently sits 17th in the standings with 174 points, just 22 points shy of Challenger leader Fabrizio Armetta.

“As a bolt in the blue, in the past days I had a news about my family that changed all my plans for next weekend,” announced the Italian on his official website.
“I want to reassure everyone that it’s a difficult moment, but we have a solution. Now my family needs my support and my place is there now. I want and I must stay with them now.”
“In these conditions, racing in Zolder makes no sense. I can’t be in Belgium when all my thoughts are elsewhere. It only creates a dangerous risk and it will never give us the results we have worked a lot for.”

“I want to thank all my partners and fans for the support and warmth I have received this season,” continued Lanza. “Let’s try again next year!”
“I will follow the Zolder Finals from home and I will cheer on my teammates fighting for the title. Gimmy [Ercoli], Alberto [Naska] but above all my teammate Roberto Benedetti, who will be the captain of our #88 in Belgium!”
“It’s a shame to end the season without being able to make the final attack on the Challenger Trophy title, but it’s not a problem. We’ll try again next year with even more confidence and experience! “
