Garrett Lowe “bounced back” from a disappointing weekend at Brands Hatch to secure his first EuroNASCAR podium finish in the NASCAR GP Czech Republic.
An American driver finished on the podium in EuroNASCAR PRO for the first time since the 2018 season.
The feat was achieved by Bremotion driver Garrett Lowe, who finished third in the Saturday race at Autodrom Most. Lowe’s podium happened seven years and 60 days after Bobby Labonte finished second in the 2018 Oval World Challenge at Tours Speedway.
After a subpar weekend in Brands Hatch, Lowe spent his summer break preparing for better results in the 2025 NASCAR GP Czech Republic.
Continued participation in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series and returning to Europe early for a mid-season test at Oschersleben were among the things that Lowe did in the build-up to the round.
The American also overcame setbacks throughout the Czech weekend. Friday’s wet Practice meant there’s little data that can be carried over to Saturday and Sunday.
Despite this, Lowe mastered Autodrom Most quickly. He put his No. 99 BS+ Competition Camaro on the front row for Race 1, only behind pole sitter – and eventual race winner – Gianmarco Ercoli before he finished third in the race that followed.
“We have a slow weekend to start on the wet and we only have eight laps on dry Practice before Qualifying” said Lowe to Andre Wiegold post-race. “I can’t thank BS+ Competition and Bremotion enough for helping us to get there.”
“We did struggle the last couple of weekends, but we bounced back. Did a little testing, came back and finally we’re on the podium!”
Lowe’s podium conquest was also aided by a secret road car test in a Skoda Octavia that his friends hooked up prior to race week.
“I had a good friend hook us up [with the Skoda Octavia test drive],” adds Lowe. “Just something to familiarize with, I’ve never been to or never seen these tracks so that helped a lot.”
Sadly, Lowe was unable to overcome one last hurdle in Sunday’s race. A gearbox failure when running in fifth eliminated Lowe’s chances for a double podium in Most.
The 23-year old spent most of his Sunday watching the race from the sidelines, “accompanied” by Academy Motorsport’s Claudio Remigio Cappelli who retired in the same spot as the American.
“Pretty sure we blew the gearbox into Turn 1,” said Lowe after Race 2 on BS+ Competition’s social media feed. “We ran the No. 3 down, we made the pass then he got me back.”
“We had a really good pace and we definitely had yet another top-3 car today. Super proud of the team, just a shame that we hit the gearbox failure. We’ll fix it and get back from it!”
Lowe’s podium keeps him in eighth in the overall standings with 200 points. He has a 52 points deficit to co-championship leaders Gianmarco Ercoli and Vittorio Ghirelli.
In the Junior Trophy battle, Lowe will enter the Playoffs with a strong chance of winning it. The American is 40 points adrift from Paul Jouffreau, albeit with a maximum of 332 points still on the cards for Oschersleben and Zolder.
