Jordan O’Brien speaks about his interest for EuroNASCAR and how he’ll handle the upcoming round at Autodrom Most through his exclusive interview with World of EuroNASCAR.
Plenty of stories have been told from the 2025 NASCAR Euro Series so far, with more set to be written this weekend when the series returns to action with the NASCAR GP Czech Republic at Autodrom Most.
One particularly memorable story is the debut of American driver Jordan O’Brien in EuroNASCAR OPEN. O’Brien only made his first appearance in the third round at Brands Hatch, but he already left his mark with his spectacular speed and adaptation.
Qualifying fifth in a relatively unfancied Club Competition machine was already impressive. O’Brien followed it up with an impressive wet weather drive on Race 1 that put his name on the map.
The 26-year old was initially disadvantaged after a late change to the wet tires sent him a lap down. However, he quickly found his groove, as demonstrated by his ability to unlap himself and setting the fastest lap that secured an unlikely pole position for Race 2.
O’Brien then proved that he’s just as quick in the dry conditions as well. He held off reigning two-time champion Martin Doubek in the opening laps and was battling for the podium when his No. 22 Dinoil Chevrolet Camaro died just a lap shy from the end.
Fast forward two months later, the driver from Yarmouth, Maine, who currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, is preparing himself for his second EuroNASCAR OPEN appearance with Club Competition.
Autodrom Most will be a new venue for O’Brien, but there are plenty of fans that’ll look forward to his performance.
What is the key of O’Brien’s impressive adaptability and has Brands Hatch changed his mindset for Most? World of EuroNASCAR seeks to find the answer through this exclusive interview with the American sensation.
Reza Maulana: You’ve raced plenty of racing categories, from legend cars to Lamborghini Super Trofeo’s before you gave EuroNASCAR a shot at Brands [Hatch]. Why did you decide to give EuroNASCAR a go and how does it drive compared to other cars you’ve driven in your career so far?
Jordan O’Brien: “I had always kept an eye on Euro NASCAR, as it’s always been a series that piqued my interest.”
“It first drew my attention because it was a stock car racing championship that focused predominantly on circuit racing over ovals. Now having had the chance to participate in the championship, it’s only furthered my interest and desire to compete in it.”
“Luckily I have spent the majority of my career competing in Legend Cars which prepares you very well for almost any type of car afterwards, due to the absolutely manic handling characteristics of a legend car.”
“I would honestly put the EuroNASCAR car at the top of my list for pure fun to drive. I think the car has the perfect balance between composure and craziness, so all around it’s just a fun car to be behind the wheel of.”
“It may not be the most powerful racecar out there, but I think the power level suits the character of the car very well.”
RM: There’s definitely a lot of correlation between legend cars and EuroNASCAR as recently the sport has numerous drivers stepping up to the series after achieving success in their local European legend cars championship. Were you interested to give the European legend cars scene a shot one day, or are you focusing more to EuroNASCAR for the time being?
JOB: “Well I’m the three-time legend cars pro world champion and I have already raced legend cars overseas numerous times, with wins in multiple different countries.”
RM: Ah, that’s fascinating! Great to know that you have those international experience in the bag already before joining EuroNASCAR. On the topic of joining EuroNASCAR, do you expect your debut at Brands Hatch to go as well as it did?
JOB: “I did have high expectations for myself. I figured that the car would jive well with my driving style and I’m glad that it did.”
“Unfortunately we couldn’t make the most of our pace with some mechanical issues throughout the weekend, so I’m hoping this will be different at Most and that the results will come through.”
RM: Do you think a victory or at least a podium is possible after you showed that you can hang around with the best drivers in the division at Brands Hatch?
JOB: “Absolutely, yes. We will be pushing for a win for sure, or a podium at the least. That’s the goal. Also with the chance of rain in the forecast this weekend, and given our wet pace at Brands Hatch. It definitely feels like a strong possibility all around.”
RM: Fingers crossed that this dream can become a reality! Moving on to the next question, is this going to be your first visit to Autodrom Most? If so, how do you prepare yourself for the upcoming weekend?
JOB: “Yes, this is my first visit to Autodrom Most. I’ve spent the last weeks practicing lots on the simulator.”
RM: What’s your opinion of the circuit based on your practice in the simulator? Which points do you think are going to be the key?
JOB: “Based on the simulator, I’m really looking forward to getting on the track. The circuit has lots of long straights, so it will be key to focus on getting really good exits, in order to maximize the speed on those long straights.”
RM: That’s great to hear. For one final question, do you have other rounds planned after Most? Or is it a case of waiting for further developments before you can say it?
JOB: “I would love to do the remaining rounds of the 2025 championship. However, the biggest deciding factor for that is finding the sponsors. So hopefully we are successful in the search!”
