The listing for all records related to fastest laps in EuroNASCAR’s junior division, EuroNASCAR OPEN.
Having the fastest car is often the key to winning in the NASCAR Euro Series. A clear indication of a machine’s speed is its ability to set the fastest lap time during a race.
A total of 46 different drivers and 24 different teams have secured the Fastest Lap award since the first season under official NASCAR sanctioning in 2012.
Listed below are some of the records that are related to fastest laps in EuroNASCAR OPEN. Full details of each record can be checked through the link that was attached on their respective sections.
NOTE : The list shown below are correct as of the end of the 2024 EuroNASCAR Finals at Circuit Zolder. Drivers shown in “bold” are drivers that have competed in at least one (1) EuroNASCAR OPEN race of the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season.
MOST POLE POSITIONS IN EURONASCAR OPEN – DRIVERS
Thomas Ferrando and Martin Doubek are currently tied for the most fastest laps with 13 each. Ferrando was the first to achieve this feat, with his path to 13 began when he set his 10th fastest lap to break the previous record set by Stienes Longin.
Three more fastest laps for the Frenchman meant that Ferrando’s total tally came up to 13. It was this number that Doubek tied with his most recent fastest lap, achieved in Race 1 of the 2024 NASCAR GP Czech Republic.

Longin earned the fastest lap award in eight of the twelve races held in 2016. It has yet to be matched or beaten by another driver in the division.

MOST FASTEST LAPS IN DEBUT SEASON
Anthony Gandon currently holds the record for the most fastest laps in their debut EuroNASCAR OPEN season with six (6).
Gandon’s spectacular pace enabled him to set the fastest lap in six of the twelve races held in 2013. It easily broke the previous record of two (2) set in 2012, the inaugural EuroNASCAR OPEN season under NASCAR sanctioning.

YOUNGEST DRIVER TO SET THE FASTEST LAP
Thomas Ferrando is the youngest driver to set a fastest lap in EuroNASCAR OPEN. Ferrando was 16 years and 332 days old when he set the best race lap time in Race 2 of the 2014 American SpeedFest II at Brands Hatch.
Ferrando beat the previous record set by Gabriele Volpato, who was 16 years and 345 days old when he set the fastest lap in Race 1 of the 2013 Dijon 200.

OLDEST DRIVER TO SET THE FASTEST LAP
Eric Quintal is the oldest driver to have set a fastest lap in EuroNASCAR OPEN. Quintal was 48 years and 105 days old when he set the best lap time in Race 2 of the 2012 Valencia SemiFinals at Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
He beat the previous record set by Adriano Medeiros, who was 39 years and 300 days old when he set the fastest lap in Race 1 of the 2012 Brands Hatch 200 at Brands Hatch.

FEWEST RACES BEFORE FIRST FASTEST LAP
Nine drivers have managed to set the fastest lap time in their first EuroNASCAR OPEN race. The nine are: Vincent Gonneau (pictured), Adriano Medeiros, Loic Deman, Josh Burdon, Olivier Porta, Neal van Vaerenbergh, Denny Zardo, Myatt Snider and Tobias Dauenhauer.
Gonneau became the first driver to do so in the first EuroNASCAR OPEN race under NASCAR’s official sanctioning at Circuit Paul Armagnac in 2012.
Four more drivers then followed Gonneau’s feat in the same season: Medeiros at Brands Hatch, Deman at Spa-Francorchamps, Burdon at Valencia, and Porta at Le Mans.
Van Vaerenbergh was the sixth, achieving the feat at Valencia in 2014. Three years later, Zardo became the seventh driver to do so during EuroNASCAR’s first visit to Franciacorta.
Snider became the first American driver to achieve the feat – and eighth overall – with his fastest lap at Valencia in 2019. Dauenhauer is currently the latest to repeat the occasion with his incredible performance at Valleunga in 2020.

MOST RACES BEFORE FIRST FASTEST LAP
Gil Linster currently holds the record for the most races before scoring their first fastest lap in EuroNASCAR OPEN.
Linster’s first fastest lap award came in Race 1 of the 2024 Valencia NASCAR Fest at Circuit Ricardo Tormo. That race was the fifty-fifth (55th) race of his OPEN career.

Castelli set the fastest lap time in both races of the 2014 Valencia NASCAR Fest. As it was the only EuroNASCAR races of his career, this led to van Vaerenbergh becoming the only driver with a perfect 100% fastest lap percentage in OPEN.
