Claudio Remigio Cappelli will race the No. 5 Academy Motorsport Ford in both EuroNASCAR PRO and EuroNASCAR OPEN for the 2025 season.
Academy Motorsport’s Claudio Remigio Cappelli is prepared to face bigger challenges in his fourth full season campaign in the NASCAR Euro Series.
Fresh off a successful end of the 2024 season where Cappelli won three Playoff races, the Italian will race double duty onboard the Cremona Gronde sponsored No. 5 Ford Mustang in 2025.
“I’m happy to be able to continue this project that we started last year,” said Cappelli to euronascar.com. “We have shown with Academy Motorsport that we are able to be very competitive and get strong results.”
Cappelli made a large impression on his first season with Academy last year. The 49-year old is a regular competitor for top-5 finishes in EuroNASCAR OPEN and his Playoffs results showed that he’s a race winning caliber driver.
Cappelli finished fifth in the standings with three wins and three additional podium finishes. His Playoffs wins also propelled the Italian to an overall victory in the Legend Trophy.
The confidence boost from 2024 has convinced the Italian to tackle the challenges from EuroNASCAR PRO once more. Cappelli had competed in PRO in 2022, his first full season campaign in the sport.
The 2022 PRO campaign was a season marred with retirements, with six DNF’s across twelve races. However, three top-10 finishes that year showed that Cappelli had what it takes to fight alongside the best stock car drivers in Europe.
“This season will be a tough challenge for me as I will be competing in both the PRO and OPEN series,” adds Cappelli. “I will prepare as well as I can and spend a lot of time in the car to get used to the new gearbox. My goal is to achieve strong results again with Academy Motorsport.”
Academy’s co-owners Federico Monti and Alex Caffi are happy with Cappelli’s decision to extend his contract with the team. Both Caffi and Monti are expecting bigger things from Cappelli in their second season together.
“We are happy and proud that Claudio has reconfirmed with Academy Motorsport and relaunched his commitment in both championships,” said Monti, the reigning Rookie Challenge champion.
“The team returns to the start with a well-structured organization, thanks to a more solid collaboration with Alex Caffi Motorsport whose experience and professionalism this year will contribute even more to the work of the entire team.”
“We are equipping ourselves in the best possible way to face a 2025 that will undoubtedly require a high level of competitiveness.”
“We are enthusiastic about the even stronger bond that unites us with the intent of supporting the exciting work done by the team in recent years,” said Caffi in Academy’s official press release.
“Together we will try to make that leap in quality. We all set a common goal of winning one of the two main EuroNASCAR championships, a goal that we’re both still lacking.”
