On the eve of V8 Thunder Cars’ return to Falkenbergs Motorbana this weekend, the series announced that they will continue to host the Falkenbergs round until 2027.
Falkenbergs Motorbana, the home of the Västkustloppet (West Coast Race) round, will remain as part of the V8 Thunder Cars calendar for three more seasons.
The announcement was made on 9 July, a few days before V8TC’s return to the 1.843-kilometer circuit for their third round of the 2024 season this weekend.
“The Västkustloppet is a fantastically well-arranged event by Falkenbergs Motorklubb,” says Anders Conradzon, the boss of V8 Thunder Cars. “For our participants, the Västkustloppet is the racing highlight of the summer. It’s a track that everyone enjoys.”

Built in 1967, Falkenbergs is one of the oldest racing tracks in Sweden. Known for its high speed nature, the track remained mostly the same since its formation. The addition of a chicane in 2004 marked the first, and so far only, major layout change in its 57-year long history.
Today, Falkenbergs stands out in the Swedish motoring scene because it’s the only track owned by a members group, Falkenbergs Motorklubb. Conradzon praised the Motorklubb for their ability in hosting major championship events such as the V8TC.

“The club’s organization creates a very nice atmosphere on the track for both spectators and participants,” said Conradzon. “They’re very good at developing the track’s activities and we look forward to being part of that development.”
Falkenbergs Motorklubb themselves were equally happy to see V8TC remain as part of the track’s history for the foreseeable future.

“V8 Thunder Cars has been a very good class to have in our program and both the audience and our members in the club appreciate their participation,” says Ronny Andersson, the chairman of Falkenbergs Motorklubb.
“For us, it is important to be able to secure a draw for Västkustloppet, which is one of our biggest events of the year, alongside Wheels and Wings [a yearly event for historic cars and airplanes], which we organize every year.”
“Everyone is welcome to Falkenbergs on July 12-14. We will offer a really nice race weekend with lots of exciting racing entertainment by V8 Thunder Cars, which offers perhaps its best starting field in many years.”

Christoffer Bergström currently leads the championship with 101 points. The 53-year old holds a significant advantage from reigning champion Andreas Nilsson, who is 32 points behind the Team Pampas owner/driver.
