Former four-time EuroNASCAR champion Alon Day will be racing in NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Chicago race on 6 July, driving the No. 45 Jet Support Services Camaro for Alpha Prime Racing.

EuroNASCAR legend Alon Day is set to make his return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series for The Loop 110 at Chicago Street Course on 6 July.

The former four-time champion will be racing Alpha Prime Racing’s No. 45 Jet Support Services Chevrolet Camaro in the streets of Chicago.

This is set to be Day’s first Xfinity race since Road America in 2016, as well as the Israeli’s first race in top level motorsport in two years. He last competed at Rijeka’s EuroNASCAR race in 2022, taking home a podium to secure his final championship trophy.

“Four-time EuroNASCAR Champion Alon Day returns to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in the streets of Chicago!” announced Alpha Prime on 12 June. “Alon will pilot the Jet Support Services #45 Chevy Camaro.”

This announcement was the realization of Day’s goal to secure more chances of racing in the United States.

As revealed in his interview with Jerry Jordan from Kickin’ the Tires earlier this year, the 32-year old driver felt that he had accomplished everything in EuroNASCAR and wanted “something bigger” after he clinched his fourth title in 2022.

Despite this, Day continues to maintain a close relationship with his former EuroNASCAR colleagues. Just last week, Day visited American SpeedFest 11 at Brands Hatch to assist Marko Stipp Motorsport’s Thomas Krasonis in telemetry optimization.

Day’s outing at Chicago will be the second time that Alpha Prime has fielded a former EuroNASCAR driver in one of their machines.

Previously, Julia Landauer – one of the only two female drivers to have finished on the podium in EuroNASCAR – was signed by the American team to compete at New Hampshire and Homestead in 2022. She finished 36th and 28th in the respective races.
