Dennis Strandberg mastered the damp conditions to score a dominant Superpole award in Gelleråsen Arena ahead of Andreas Nilsson and Charbel Jomha.

Former two-time champion Dennis Strandberg showed his capabilities inside a V8 Thunder Cars machine after he dominated the Superpole session for the second round of the 2024 season, held at Karlskoga’s Gelleråsen Arena.

Strandberg took home the Superpole award after he set a lap time of 1:12.752 in a drying track. The Swede timed his lap to perfection in a challenging session, as rainfall made the track damp for the 17 competitors that competed this week.

However, Strandberg did not do a full sweep. The driver of the No. 4 Snake Pit Garage Camaro was third in Qualifying behind reigning champion Andreas Nilsson and rookie Charbel Jomha.

Nilsson and Jomha enjoyed a terrific scrap for Race 1’s pole position award, which was held at a damp track after rain came in between Practice and Qualifying.

Only 0.042 seconds separated the front row qualifiers, with the champ reigning supreme in the No. 21 Racebil.se Camaro ZL1.

Both drivers also wound up to be the ones behind Strandberg in Superpole, securing a second and third position on the grid for Race 2.

Championship leader and top Super Star driver Christoffer Bergström looked strong in the dry Practice sessions, but the damp track only allowed him to qualify fifth and fourth for the upcoming races.

The same story was experienced by top championship contender Tommie Eliasson. Tommie was the fastest in Practice, but the Team Brorsson driver narrowly made it to the Superpole and was also sixth at the end of the top-6 shootout.

He ends up being beaten by Jonathan Engström, another rookie who impressed in Gelleråsen. “Jonte” convincingly beat his rivals Isac Aronsson, Linus Holgersson and Julia Eliasson to become the only driver in the Junior classification to qualify for the Superpole.

Four drivers that competed at Anderstorp did not set a lap time in Gelleråsen and are not expected to take part in the proceedings for the race.

This included Norwegians Mathias Hansen and Tommy Aker, leaving Team Trysil’s leader Stein Frederic Akre – who qualified ninth – as the sole non-Swedish driver on the grid for this weekend.
