Florian Richard wins in Club Challenge for the first time after he bested teammate Alain Mosqueron to lead a SpeedHouse 1-2 at Oschsersleben.

A new winner in EuroNASCAR Club Challenge was crowned in yesterday’s round at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. SpeedHouse Racing’s rookie contender Florian Richard became the latest winner in the regularity-based division after the Frenchman beat teammate Alain Mosqueron for the victory.

The victory was the next logical step for Richard after he finished fourth in Spain, third in Italy and second in the Czech Republic. Richard won the first session and finished runner-up in the second session to give him enough points to beat Mosqueron and Federico Monti.

“It’s my first victory in the NWES Club Challenge and it was a great team effort,” said Richard to euronascar.com. “Also congratulations to Federico and my teammate Alain. I’m now looking forward to the EuroNASCAR Finals at Circuit Zolder in Belgium.”

Mosqueron had to fend off a hard challenge from Monti, who brought the fight with the former two-time Club Challenge champion to the wire. Both Mosqueron and Monti scored the same amount of points, but Mosqueron got the upper hand because he topped the second session while Monti only finished in the top-3.

Championship leader Gordon Barnes was unable to score a podium finish in the home round for his team Marko Stipp Motorsport. The reigning two-time champion was third in the first session, but a poor second session meant that he was only fourth in the final results.

The Club Challenge sessions also saw drivers taking part under the extra practice provisions, including two special guests from the Belcar championship who are also at Oschersleben to support the NASCAR GP Germany: Bert and Stienes Longin.

Bert revealed that the father and son duo took to the track behind the wheel of RDV Competition’s No. 3 Ford Mustang, making it the first time that the Longin’s drove a non-PK Carsport car in any EuroNASCAR session.
