Talented Finnish driver Tuomas Pöntinen is back at the wheel of Marko Stipp Motorsport’s No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro for the NASCAR GP Germany at Oschersleben.

Marko Stipp Motorsport will have a returning driver to race the No. 48 GTOmega Chevrolet Camaro in the EuroNASCAR PRO for their home race at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben this weekend.

However, it is not Yevgen Sokolovskiy like what is reported in the provisional Entry List. Rather, it’s Tuomas Pöntinen who is set to make his second outing in EuroNASCAR’s top class this year.

Pöntinen announced his return on his social media accounts yesterday, stating that he “got another really great opportunity” to compete in the first NASCAR GP Germany held at the Oschersleben circuit.

The talented Finnish driver, who scored two podiums and finished sixth overall in the standings of the 2022 EuroNASCAR 2 season, previously took part in the NASCAR GP Italy at Autodromo Vallelunga and performed impressively, scoring a double top-10 finish on his EuroNASCAR PRO debut.

Armed with data from both the Vallelunga outing and a pre-season test session at the track, Pöntinen hopes that he will be able to challenge for the podium positions at MSM’s home race in Germany.

“It’s really great to be able to race again,” said the 23-year old driver. “We had a good test day on that track in the spring, so I’m looking forward to a great weekend. A podium in the PRO class would be a great achievement.”
