Gordon Barnes has conquered EuroNASCAR Club Challenge once more. The reigning two-time champion scored his second victory of the season after he beat Florian Richard and Alain Mosqueron in the opening day of NASCAR GP Czech Republic.
Barnes had a trouble-free round much like in Vallelunga, but he was beaten by Richard in the first session. The Briton regained the top spot in the second session and with him earning three bonus points because he chose the faster reference time in both sessions, the Marko Stipp Motorsport driver claimed the victory ahead of the SpeedHouse duo.

“It’s always amazing to leave a track with a nice trophy,” said Barnes to euronascar.com after the race. “The track is awesome with its technical sections and fast parts and we did an amazing job to score another win in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Club Challenge.”
“We collected big points and are now looking forward to our team’s home race in Germany at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.”

Richard, the EuroNASCAR Club Challenge rookie, bested his more experienced teammate for the second round in a row. Richard’s victory in the first session gave him an advantage that was enough to claim second despite Mosqueron earning the bonus points for faster reference time.
Behind the SpeedHouse duo, there was a three-way tie for fourth place that was won by Federico Monti. Monti, Eduoard Fatio and Arianna Casoli are all tied on points, but Monti came out on top because he – along with Fatio – chose a faster reference time in one of the sessions and had a higher finish than the Swiss driver: Fourth in the second session compared to Fatio’s fifth.
Fatio’s decision to go for the faster reference time was the deciding factor that gave him fifth place in the end, beating Casoli who chose the slower reference time in both sessions.

The results were closed by Viktor Schiffer, who ended in last place yet again after a clutch problem prevented the Austrian driver from setting a time in the first session.
Team Bleekemolen’s trio of Thomas Dombrowski, Sebastiaan Bleekemolen and Vittorio Ghirelli did enter the Club Challenge sessions, but as was expected they were ineligible to score championship points towards the regularity-based division because they entered under the “extra practice” provisions.
