Team Bulgaria, the first NASCAR team from the Balkans, will be making their debut in the 2023 EuroNASCAR championship as a single-car team.
A new team is set to join the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series in 2023 after Team Bulgaria officially announced their plans to enter the series yesterday.
The first NASCAR team from the Balkans, which had already established a presence on social media since December of last year, plans to enter the No. 90 Toyota Camry with support from a highly experienced Italian team.
Team Bulgaria has not officially revealed who their partner is, but rumors suggest that their partner is Not Only Motorsport: A proven race winning team that finished third in the 2021 EuroNASCAR 2 championship with Naveh Talor.
Team Bulgaria’s founders were Alfonso Bacci and Gino Miedico, two figures that have prior experience in rallying for the past ten years. According to Bacci, the move to EuroNASCAR would allow the team to increase their reach in the international motorsport scene.
“Our reason for joining EuroNASCAR is its great visibility throughout Europe,” said Bacci to euronascar.com. “NASCAR is well known in the USA and here in Europe and thanks to the organization, it is well managed.”
“The international audience is growing day by day and with exciting races at six of the best tracks in Europe, EuroNASCAR offers spectacular and close racing. We are really looking forward to getting the championship off to the right start.”
The announcement meant that Team Bulgaria will be joining Bremotion as the two teams that have declared their intention to make their EuroNASCAR debut in 2023. Given their status as debutants, Team Bulgaria has set up a relatively simple goal for their first year in the sport.
“It will be a learning season for us and we want to grow as a team and improve our performance to gain the necessary experience to become competitive,” said Bacci on the team’s goal for 2023.
“We will certainly not lack competitiveness and confidence as we will try to maximize the results in our first season.”
