Lithuanian Kasparas Vingilis will make his EuroNASCAR 2 debut on this week’s Valencia NASCAR Fest following the announcement that he will be joining Academy Motorsport to drive the No. 2 FJ for the season opening round.

Kasparas Vingilis will become the first Lithuanian driver to start in NASCAR Whelen Euro Series’ two main divisions following an announcement that the Lithuanian will compete for Academy Motorsport in the season opening round at Valencia.

The announcement, which was first reported by AutoMobilSport, revealed that Vingilis is scheduled to drive Academy Motorsport’s No. 2 EuroNASCAR FJ 2020 in the EuroNASCAR 2 division.

Vingilis, who honed his skills through FEED Racing, had previously competed in the Club Challenge division in an one-off appearance for Double V Racing on last year’s season ending round at Vallelunga.

“I’m really excited to start this season,” said Vingilis in the announcement. “My expectations are to learn as much as possible race after race trying to improve my skills, last year I only competed one race in the Club Challenge but this year more exciting challenges are waiting for me.”

Team co-owner Federico Monti, who was initially scheduled to drive the No. 2 FJ in EuroNASCAR FJ at Valencia before Vingilis’ call-up, is excited at the prospect of working together with the 19-year old Lithuanian at Valencia.

“I’m really happy to bring in the team a young driver of FEED Racing Academy that will have a great opportunity to compete in a brilliant championship like EuroNASCAR,” comments Monti.

“We have full confidence in the academy managed by Jacques Villeneuve and Patrick Lemarié and we are proud that this trust is repaid by entrusting us with one of their drivers. On behalf of the whole team, a big welcome to Kasparas”.
