Nicolò Rocca has confirmed that he will be staying in NASCAR Whelen Euro Series for the upcoming 2021 season after it was announced yesterday that he has signed a contract extension with DF1 Racing.
Rocca will continue to race the No. 22 Camaro on a full-time basis in the EuroNASCAR PRO class as the car’s primary sponsor Grapos Softdrinks has also signed a contract extension that would saw them sponsor the No. 22 car once again in 2021.
Itarle, the UK-based firm specializing in algorithm and analytic tools for banks and a personal sponsor for Rocca’s in 2020, also agreed to extend their sponsorship deal with the Italian driver for the upcoming season.

The No. 22 car will be sporting a striking red livery for 2021, a noticeable contrast over the yellow livery that the car raced with in the 2020 season.
“It feels very good to be confirmed on the #22 for 2021, it’s going to be a great season!”, said Rocca in the official announcement. “I am confident that thanks to the hard work of DF1 Racing I will have the right equipment to be out front every race. The DF1 management is putting a lot of trust in me and I have only one way to repay them for their trust! Can’t wait for the fight to begin.”
Rocca, one of the most experienced driver on the grid with 71 starts and 4 wins in the top division on his name, was signed by DF1 Racing last year as a replacement driver for Ander Vilariño after the Spaniard withdrawn his full-season entry due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rocca’s initial contract with DF1 had an option that allowed him to extend his contract for another season, an option that DF1 has ultimately chose after the team was impressed by the consistent results that he showcased last year.
In addition, with the departure of DF1’s previous lead driver Lasse Sørensen, Rocca will now serve as DF1’s lead driver in the top class for the upcoming 2021 season.

“We are extremely happy that Nicolò will stay with us for the upcoming season”, said Norbert Walchhofer, Head of Motorsport at DF1 Racing. “He is our spearhead for the title in the EuroNASCAR PRO and we are confident that we will be successful together.”
“For the first tests at the end of March and in April, the Chevrolet Camaro with the number 22 will be perfectly prepared for Nicolò. During the tests we will do the last minor changes to the setup, so that we are ready for a successful 2021 season.”
