Profile:

Giles Thornton, a rookie in the NASCAR K&N West Series for the TTC Racing team at that time, was invited by NASCAR and Team FJ to compete in the Michelin/Tours Evenements 100 at Tours Speedway in 2013. Thornton initially competed with Scorpus Racing’s No. 19 Camaro, but in between Qualifying and the races he swapped rides with Rick Crawford, who initially took part in Scorpus’ No. 9 SS.

Thornton, who was only 15 years and 90 days old when he made his first start at Tours, is the youngest driver to have ever raced in NASCAR Whelen Euro Series’ EuroNASCAR PRO division. Thornton is very likely to retain that distinction for eternity given that EuroNASCAR has quietly risen the minimum age limit for ENPRO drivers to 16 in the years since.
