Profile:
The son of Raceway Venray’s track owner Harry Maessen, Barry started his racing career in motocross before moving to European stock car racing scene in the 90s, initially starting off racing in the Hot Rod class at local championships held at Circuit de Peel – the now-demolished old version of Raceway Venray, located across the road of the modern track. He then moved to circuit racing with the BRL V6s and the Benelux Supercar Challenge before moving back to stock car racing to compete in Venray’s late model championship, the LMV8 Supercup.
He made his NASCAR Whelen Euro Series debut in 2016, driving for his self-run team in the Elite 1 class for 4 races, scoring a podium finish in his home race at Venray. After a two-year hiatus, he returned in 2019 to compete in the Elite 2 class, driving the No. 11 Projob Chevrolet Camaro as a replacement driver for Niels Albert, who was initially scheduled to make his Euro Series debut at Venray.
