NASCAR Euro Series cancels the NASCAR Oval GP at Raceway Venray due to difficulties in securing the FIA international track homologation.

NASCAR Euro Series have announced the cancellation of the NASCAR Oval GP on 22 May 2025. The round at Raceway Venray will not be replaced, leaving EuroNASCAR with only six rounds for the 2025 season.

EuroNASCAR was forced to cancel the event as a result of Venray being unable to secure their FIA homologation in time for the event to take place on its originally scheduled date of 28-29 June 2025.

“The NASCAR Euro Series announces that the Oval GP, originally scheduled for June 28-29, 2025, at Raceway Venray will not take place,” announced EuroNASCAR on its official website.

“Due to the fact that Raceway Venray could not complete the FIA international homologation process in time, particularly with respect to the specific technical and safety assessments required for oval circuits, the event cannot be held as scheduled.”

Unlike every other NASCAR sanctioned championship, EuroNASCAR is officially recognized by both NASCAR and FIA. The dual recognition meant that tracks hosting EuroNASCAR rounds had to meet homologations from both organization bodies.

According to EuroNASCAR’s founder and CEO Jerome Galpin, Venray had applied for FIA homologation in autumn of 2024. It implies that Venray received dispensation to be able to host a round in 2024, as autumn season took place after the 2024 NASCAR Oval GP was held.

“This is disappointing news for us,” said Galpin in the official announcement. “To be part of the 2025 NASCAR Euro Series calendar, Raceway Venray committed to engage the FIA homologation process in the autumn of 2024 and get it on time before the event.”

“We were informed by the FIA that this will not happen and that the event can not be considered for the 2025 series calendar, nor for any sporting classifications. We must then follow instructions from the FIA.”
