Max Mason will continue to race Academy Motorsport’s No. 1 Ford Mustang in the EuroNASCAR 2 division for the team’s home race at Autodromo Vallelunga next month.
Max Mason is staying at Academy Motorsport for the team’s home race, NASCAR GP Italy at Autodromo Vallelunga. The news was announced by Italian publisher ErregiMedia on 24 June and came after Mason made his debut with Academy on American SpeedFest 10, Powered by Lucas Oil at Brands Hatch.
“Academy Motorsport announces the participation in the next round of Euronascar at the Piero Taruffi circuit in Vallelunga of 16-year-old Australian Max Mason,” said Academy on their official statement.
“The rookie, who raced with Academy at Brands Hatch, has found a great feeling with the team working immediately in tune with the whole team, showing a great desire to fit in and grow also thanks to the precious collaboration of the engineers and mechanics.”

Max Mason, the 16-year old driver from Sydney, made his surprise debut with Academy at Brands Hatch when his status as the teammate of Advait Deodhar in Academy’s No. 1 Ford Mustang was revealed on the Entry List.
Mason had competed with Racingfuel Motorsport in the season opening round at Valencia. Mason was signed by Racingfuel to race the No. 58 Chevrolet Camaro in EuroNASCAR 2, but Mason’s two-race deal with Academy suggests the possibility of Mason jumping ship to the Italian-Monegasque team for the rest of the season.

“I am really excited to be driving again with Academy Motorsport for another race weekend in Italy,” said Mason to ErregiMedia. “I can continue what I started in Brands Hatch, which is to grow as a driver and to learn a lot on these EuroNASCAR race weekends.”
“Driving in Vallelunga will be a bit like I did in Australia in a fast technical track that does not forgive mistakes. I am aiming for a podium in the Italian weekend.”

Federico Monti, who is set to be returning to the driving seat at Vallelunga in the Club Challenge division, is excited with the opportunity to work with Mason again after making his debut with the team that he co-owns with Alex Caffi at Brands Hatch.
“Academy Motorsport is really happy and proud to have in the team a very young boy that has shown, after just one race with us, that he has a great desire to improve,” said Monti about Mason in the official release.
“Max has shown from the very beginning that he wants to fight for great results and we strongly believe that he will be able to do this with us. We look forward to having him in the team at Vallelunga to help him run his Italian race.”
