After months of speculation, Italian team Not Only Motorsport has officially announced their plans to compete full-time in the 2020 season with the No. 89 team.
After months of speculation and several teaser renders done by the team, Italian team Not Only Motorsport officially announces their plans to compete in the 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series on 24 March 2020 through social media.
This news follows upon what we have reported before in our Late January Silly Season Round Up article, where Davide Dallara – driver for Not Only Motorsport in the Italian G1 Series last year – confirmed to us that both him and Not Only Motorsport are planning to compete in the season providing the budget to compete for the full season can be found.
With the coronavirus pandemic halting all forms of motorsport throughout the world, Not Only Motorsport understands that the timing of their announcement is not the best, but nevertheless they were excited with the prospect of competing in the series this year.
“We stay in the house, but we don’t stand still. Although it’s not the best time, we wanted to announce a small Non-Stop goal: Participation in the next Nascar Whelen Euro Series championship with Igor Romanov, Davide Dallara and Fabio Spatafora as our pilots,” said the team in the social media post that officially announces their participation in EuroNASCAR.
Not Only Motorsport will be fielding the No. 89 JF Pure Energy Drink team for their debut campaign with Fabio Spatafora, Davide Dallara, and Igor Romanov scheduled to be driving the No. 89 car in the EuroNASCAR PRO, EuroNASCAR 2, and Club Challenge classes respectively.
Dallara and Romanov will be making their series debuts while Spatafora will be returning to the grid for the first time since his participation at Monza in 2013. Romanov himself has previously announced on 20 January that he will be competing in Club Challenge, although at the time he didn’t announce which team he is scheduled to be competing with.
Based in the comune of Vignate near Milan, Not Only Motorsport is known for offering a large variety of courses related to vehicles and motorsports. Their courses vary from karting, to rally and circuit racing, and to future technologies such as electric and hybrid vehicles.
According to their website, Not Only Motorsport’s courses “are structured in theoretical and practical lessons and involve the application of the correct techniques of intervention on racing cars and motorcycles and all their components. The Racing courses also include a day of testing on the track to allow students to apply and consolidate all the notions learned in the workshop, with professional drivers and teams.”
Their goal, as stated in their website, is to “TRANSFORM YOUR PASSION IN A PROFESSION.” The trainings conducted by Not Only Motorsport is hoping to produce highly qualified technicians and track mechanics that will be able to successfully position themselves among the most requested and sought-after professional profiles by the main World Teams.
Not Only Motorsport will be joining FEED Vict Racing and 42 Racing as new teams that have announced plans to compete full-time in the 2020 season, which is now scheduled to start with the OMX MaxxMotion NASCAR Show at Czech Republic’s Autodrom Most on 20-21 June following the announcement that American Speedfest VIII is postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
