Tobias Dauenhauer announced that his racing career “is probably coming to an end” after facing financial issues that prevented him from continuing his dream.
Tobias Dauenhauer’s racing journey has seemingly reached an early conclusion. Through a social media post, the German announced that his racing journey “is probably coming to an end”.
Dauenhauer cited financial reasons as the reason why he’s stopping his racing career. He, therefore, will leave the NASCAR Euro Series after a successful five-year stint in the championship.
“The biggest part of my life so far is probably coming to an end,” announced Dauenhauer on 30 March 2025.
“Unfortunately, money beats talent in motorsport. You don’t get far these days without money.”
“I’m grateful for all the wonderful moments I’ve been able to experience over the years. Many thanks to everyone who has supported me.”
“Maybe there will still be opportunities in the future and I will always be ready for them. Never say never. For now, a new chapter begins, where I will put my ambition into it and push full throttle!”
Despite his career ending far earlier than it should be, Dauenhauer left a remarkable legacy in EuroNASCAR.
Dauenhauer immediately showed speed from his debut in 2020 with Hendriks Motorsport. He dominated his maiden race weekend at Vallelunga, quickly establishing himself as one of the best young talents in the series.
In his two-year EuroNASCAR OPEN stint, Dauenhauer scored 8 wins, 11 pole positions, 9 fastest laps and 15 podiums. Dauenhauer never tasted championship glory, but he came close to beating Vittorio Ghirelli and Martin Doubek for the 2020 and 2021 titles respectively.
A jump to EuroNASCAR PRO was very much in the cards for Dauenhauer, and he duly did so in 2022. He scored a podium in just his second ever race, but signs of financial issues began to appear shortly after.
A lack of sponsorship forced Dauenhauer to end his 2022 campaign after just one round. His career was in limbo until Patrick Brenndörfer signed him into the Bremotion project for 2023.
With Brenndörfer’s full support, Dauenhauer went on a charge. He took a popular home victory in Oschersleben and added a second win in the Zolder finale.
Perhaps fittingly, his last win echoed the way he won his first. Dauenhauer absolutely dominated everyone that day, so much so that he won by 47.276 seconds – the largest winning margin in EuroNASCAR PRO history.
Given the results, there are plenty of expectations placed on Dauenhauer in 2024. Unfortunately, four straight DNF’s in the Playoffs relegated Dauenhauer to 13th in the standings.
And that, seemingly, is the end of the road for Dauenhauer. The German will switch his focus in life, while Bremotion enters a new era with Garrett Lowe as their new star driver in 2025.
We say “seemingly”, because Dauenhauer is open for a future comeback if the opportunity ever presents itself.
“For the near future, I will focus on business and finish my further education as an electrical engineering technician,” said Dauenhauer to World of EuroNASCAR. “If there are possibilities to be back in a race car again, I will always be ready for them.”
We don’t know if our paths will ever cross once again, but we’re wishing the best of luck to one of the drivers that have helped define EuroNASCAR in the 2020’s with his clinical performances in the race track.
