Davit Kajaia and Mariam Davitidze will share driving duties of Kolkhi GRT’s No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro in the upcoming 2026 EuroNASCAR season.
A new era awaits Team Georgia for their second NASCAR Euro Series campaign in 2026. After a spectacular debut year in 2025, Team Georgia is set to continue their journey with a new identity: Kolkhi GRT [Georgia Racing Team].
Named after the Ancient Greek pronunciation of Colchis, the antiquity name for the region where modern Georgia is located, Kolkhi GRT is set to field a new set of drivers in 2026.
Davit Kajaia returns to Kolkhi GRT after he won the Challenger Trophy in his maiden campaign, while Mariam Davitidze joins the series as Kajaia’s new EuroNASCAR OPEN teammate.
Kolkhi GRT will also change their car number for 2026. The team will switch numbers to No. 8, acquiring it from Vict Motorsport after the Italian team relinquished the number this off-season.
“Today marks the opening of a new chapter not just for our team, but for Georgian sport,” said Kolkhi GRT representative Erekle Nasidze to nascar.eu.
“Kolkhi GRT was born from a desire to show the world that Georgian motorsport has the talent, the engineering, and the heart to compete with the best in Europe.”
“We are entering the NASCAR Euro Series with a clear purpose: to contend for podiums and to inspire the next generation of drivers back home.”
“The engines are fired, the team is ready, and we are honored to carry the Georgian flag at circuits across the continent. This is only the beginning.”
While Kolkhi GRT’s announcement was made official on 1 February 2026, the news of their entry had actually been reported in Georgia long before it reached the attention of the greater EuroNASCAR sphere.
Georgian media magnate and politician Irakli Chikovani was the first to reveal information about Kolkhi GRT. Chikovani told Georgian media Business Media Group (BMG) about Kolkhi GRT’s plans back on 12 January 2026.
Chikovani stated the team’s desire to bring one chassis to Georgia so that Kajaia and Davitidze can test the car in their home country.
“We will have the first car, which will be intended for training in Georgia, and the second one will be placed in Europe for competition,” said Chikovani to BMG.
“The cost of the car exceeds 100 thousand dollars, to which will be added the cost of import and customs clearance, since it is taxed as an item and not as a car.”
Whether Kolkhi GRT was able to make this plan into a reality remains to be seen, although this does confirm the team’s intention to be independent in 2026 – just like fellow 2025 rookies Alumitec Racing.
Kajaia, the team’s lead driver, expressed his excitement to make his return to the series. Kajaia ended his 2025 on a high, scoring two seventh place finishes to secure his best results to date.
“I am excited to represent the first-ever Georgian Racing Team, Kolkhi GRT, in the NASCAR Euro Series,” Kajaia stated to nascar.eu.
“I really enjoyed last year in the championship and hope to have just as much fun this year. Let’s go racing!”
Davitidze enters her first EuroNASCAR season with plenty of expectations. She already made an impression in the FIA Motorsport Games, contributing to Georgia’s impressive fourth place finish in the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games Karting Endurance Cup.
Davitidze had also been victorious in Georgia’s local championships – the same championships where predecessor Sandro Tavartkiladze honed his skills before he made his stunning charge to fourth in the 2025 EuroNASCAR OPEN championship.
A promotion to EuroNASCAR, therefore, was a big leap forward for Davitidze, who aims to perform at her usual high level right from the get go.
“I’m the number one female racer from Georgia,” said Davitidze to nascar.eu. “I’m very happy and proud to represent my country and the Kolkhi GRT team, and I look forward to competing with passion and the clear goal of winning.”
“I am thrilled to be the first female from my country to take part in such a big championship, and I am eager to win the Lady Trophy.”
