NASCAR Euro Series announced that its new GEN3 car will mandate the use of 5-speed sequential transmissions provided by gearbox specialist Samsonas Motorsport.
Samsonas Motorsport from Lithuania will be working together with the NASCAR Euro Series to provide 5-speed sequential gearboxes that are present on all GEN3 cars for the 2025 EuroNASCAR season.
Samsonas will supply EuroNASCAR and their teams with the Chevrolet Corvette C5/C6/C7 sequentials, one of the many gearbox units that Samsonas offers to the greater motorsport industry.
It meant that sequential gearboxes will be made mandatory for 2025 onwards, having previously been an optional choice ever since its introduction in 2021.
“Beginning with the 2025 season, cars will be equipped with a 5-speed sequential transmission manufactured by Samsonas of Lithuania,” announced EuroNASCAR. “The new gearbox will replace the 4-speed H-pattern transmission.”
“The new gearbox will enhance performance, durability and driving experience of the 400 hp V8 cars used in Europe’s official NASCAR championship.”
The announcement was made during the 2024 Professional MotorSport World Expo, held at the Koelnmesse exhibition center in Köln, Germany. EuroNASCAR is displaying the 2025 test car that Team FJ entered in the 2024 Finals at the Samsonas Motorsport booth.
EuroNASCAR revealed that this gearbox unit was one of the parts tested by Frederic Gabillon and Arthur Roche at Zolder.
According to EuroNASCAR, Gabillon and Roche provided positive feedback to the Samsonas Corvette gearbox unit, stating that they “reported smoother shifts and better balance in the car due to the additional gear, which allows them to optimize the rev range”.
“The new sequential shifter from Samsonas allows the car to evolve with more options for the driver and yet remain within our pure sporting objectives,” said Joe Balash, Sporting and Technical Director of the NASCAR Euro Series.
Samsonas is one of the world’s leading companies for racing gearboxes, having received worldwide recognition ever since the introduction of Samsonas’ first racing gearbox unit in 1997.
