2023 EuroNASCAR champion Gianmarco Ercoli continues his pursuit for a second title with Alumitec Racing, who has also signed Romain Iannetta as its new COO.
Alumitec Racing has announced their first key personnels for the 2026 NASCAR Euro Series season.
Star driver Gianmarco Ercoli is signed for a second season with the Canadian team while EuroNASCAR pioneer Romain Iannetta is reunited with Alumitec’s team boss Alain Lord Mounir as Alumitec’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO).
Iannetta’s signing was announced first, having been made official on 4 February 2026.
“Alumitec Racing is proud to announce the appointment of Romain Iannetta as Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective from the 2026 season of the NASCAR Euro Series,” announced Alumitec, who had made a prior press release in their website dating back to 24 January 2026.
“At 45 years old, Romain Iannetta is a recognized figure in European motorsport. An experienced driver, instructor, and respected technical expert, Iannetta brings a rare and comprehensive motorsport background acquired at the highest level of European competition.”
Iannetta was an integral part of EuroNASCAR’s formation years. The Frenchman first joined EuroNASCAR in 2011 and immediately became one of the primary title protagonists with his fourth place finish that season.
He stayed as a title contender in the early 2010’s, contending with drivers like Lucas Lasserre, Ander Vilariño and Anthony Kumpen for supremacy. His best year came in 2015, where he finished third behind Vilariño and Alon Day.
The driver from Villecresnes then left the series to search for greener pastures in sports car racing. He is still active as a driver in 2025, most recently becoming part of Team Visiom in their successful bid for the Ultimate GT Endurance Cup championship.
Despite this, EuroNASCAR always welcomed Iannetta whenever he made a comeback, which he did in two separate stints.
It was in his first comeback stint in the 2018 and 2019 seasons where Iannetta first met Lord Mounir. Iannetta joined Lord Mounir as the EuroNASCAR PRO driver of Go Fas Racing’s European branch in 2018.
Eight years after their first time together, both men are set to be reunited – now both acting as executives – in Lord Mounir’s new EuroNASCAR outfit Alumitec.
“Romain embodies the core values of Alumitec Racing: rigor, passion, and performance,” said Lord Mounir about Iannetta in the official press release.
“His technical depth, field experience, and leadership qualities make him a natural fit as we enter a new phase of development ahead of the 2026 season.”
As for Ercoli, his extension was confirmed two days after Iannetta’s executive signing was announced.
The Italian is prepared to fight in 2026 after a year of resurgence in 2025. Three back-to-back wins in the regular season propelled the 2023 champion to second in the standings, only finishing behind countryman and great rival Vittorio Ghirelli.
“Coming back to Alumitec feels like coming home,” said Ercoli to nascar.eu. “The infrastructure they’ve built near Paris is exactly what is required to fight for the 2026 title.”
Ercoli and Iannetta’s signings, coupled with the already announced off-season changes, made it clear that Alumitec is going to put everything into winning their first EuroNASCAR title.
“Our goal is simple,” said Lord Mounir in the official press release. “Nothing less than reclaiming the NASCAR Euro Series title in 2026.”
