PK Carsport retains Thomas Dombrowski as the EuroNASCAR OPEN teammate of reigning series champion Vittorio Ghirelli for the 2026 season.
Thomas Dombrowski will extend his partnership with reigning NASCAR Euro Series champion Vittorio Ghirelli at PK Carsport for the 2026 season.
Dombrowski’s contract extension was officially announced on 19 January 2026, confirming the Frenchman’s second year tenure in the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro.
Dombrowski enjoyed a career best year with PK in 2025. Having moved from Team Bleekemolen in the off-season, Dombrowski recorded his first podium finishes on his way to sixth in the EuroNASCAR OPEN championship standings.
“I’m proud to confirm my return to the NASCAR Euro Series for 2026 with PK Carsport,” said Dombrowski to nascar.eu.
“It’s the same car, the same dedicated team, and a clear, ambitious goal: to step up, deliver consistent results, and fight for race wins.”
“I’m not here just to participate. I’m here to perform at the highest level. Competing this season with PK Carsport and alongside my friend and teammate Vittorio [Ghirelli] is fantastic. We are highly motivated, we have a strong team, and we have a lot to prove.”
The announcement also confirms Dombrowski’s status as PK Carsport’s hope to retain the EuroNASCAR OPEN championship title in 2026.
Dombrowski’s 2025 teammate, the reigning OPEN champion Thomas Krasonis, is not allowed to defend his title after he won in EuroNASCAR PRO at the season opener in Valencia.
Rather than seeking a replacement, Krasonis will keep the No. 13 Costamare Inc. Camaro for his own in EuroNASCAR PRO, leaving Dombrowski as the sole driver of the Belgian team in EuroNASCAR’s second division.
Anthony Kumpen, PK Carsport team boss, is ready to nurture Dombrowski to the next level in 2026.
“Dombrowski is back, and we’re ready,” said Kumpen to nascar.eu. “He had a solid season last year.”
“There was an adaptation period, both for him with the team and for us with his driving style. The first year is always the toughest. So, we need to step up the game on both sides in this second year.”
Kumpen also acknowledged that Dombrowski will be at a disadvantage because he’s not a double duty competitor, something that PK Carsport will address over the course of the season.
“Thomas absolutely needs to be a contender for the OPEN championship,” added the former two-time champion. “Historically, drivers who compete in both the PRO and OPEN championships often hold an advantage in the OPEN class because of the extra track time.”
“We saw that the top-3 drivers in the championship in 2025 [Krasonis, Martin Doubek and Bruno Mulders] ran both classes.”
“In that regard, I believe Thomas was at a slight disadvantage. We intend to address this by providing him with extra testing opportunities, as he did relatively little private testing previously.”
“With more mileage, coupled with the enhanced understanding we now have of his driving and his understanding of the team, I am confident he can be a dominant force in the OPEN championship.”
