V8 Thunder Cars will host the Nordic Championship in the form of three heat races at Drivecenter Arena in Fällfors next season.
V8 Thunder Cars have announced plans of hosting the Nordiskt Mästerskap (Nordic Championship) in the upcoming 2025 season. As the name implies, the Nordic Championship welcomes competitors from Sweden and its neighboring countries.
The Nordic Championship will take place over the course of three heat races at the 4.270 kilometer Drivecenter Arena in Fällfors. The event is scheduled for 13-14 June 2025, in between the regular rounds at Anderstorp and Falkenbergs.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming V8 Thunder Cars to Drivecenter Arena,” said Jessica Karlsson, Drivecenter Arena’s event manager.
“We’re also happy about a collaboration that enhances both the racing and the experience for our visitors. We work intensively to create a wonderful folk festival with a fantastic atmosphere, where the midnight sun is the perfect setting.”
While Sweden is considered as the home of Trans-Am style V8 Thunder Cars racing in Europe, Norway and Finland also have a following for the sport.
This is especially notable in Finland, a country with a rich history in motorsport. Drivers from the Finnish V8 Thunder Cars have gone on to achieve success in EuroNASCAR. Most notably, 2018 champion Henri Tuomaala is also a two-time overall winner in Challenger Trophy.
“There is great interest from Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish participants in this competition and we are really looking forward to contributing to a spectacular event,” said Anders Conradzon, the boss of V8 Thunder Cars.
The decision to host the Nordic Championship was motivated by a desire to support V8TC racing in neighboring countries. V8TC stated that “there has been a lack of a common platform for the Nordic countries” after FIA closed the North European Zone (NEZ) championships several years prior.
Conradzon hopes that the Nordic Championship will aid the growth of V8TC racing in the region. There’s certainly reasons for Conradzon to be optimistic.
A total of 30 different drivers entered the 2024 V8TC season, 17 of which are full-time entrants. The finale at Mantorp Park in particular had 25 participants, the largest entry size in many years.
“A Nordic Championship title will give our national classes higher prestige and it will be something really extra to be able to show on your CV,” adds Conradzon.
“We also hope that the Nordic Championship will give our class a real boost in our neighboring countries and that they will experience the same growth in the number of participants that we have done in recent years.”
Registration for the 2025 Nordic Championship is now available at V8 Thunder Cars’ official website. Registration forms are provided in both Swedish and English.
