As reported by Motorsport.com, independent outfits like R.Mattheis Motorsport will get the chance to operate a NASCAR Brasil Series team starting from the 2025 season.
NASCAR Brasil Series will have a significant shake-up in 2025 by handing car management duties to independent operations like R.Mattheis Motorsport, as revealed by Motorsport.uol.com.br on 18 October 2024.
NASCAR Brasil Series has traditionally fielded all of its entrants from an in-house operation, but for the 2024 season the series trialed a team format for the first time.
All cars are still managed in-house, but now they’re assigned to four different outfits: Maxon Racing Team, Race Engineering, Singus Competition and Unikka Racing Team.
This in-house team format does present one major problem: Lack of consistency. Because all cars are still NASCAR Brasil entities, one car can be part of one team in one round only to suddenly be “entered” by another team in the next.
This is set to change in 2025, where NASCAR Brasil will hand over all entrants to four independent teams – each managing a maximum of six cars.
“The organizers of the NASCAR Brasil Series are already planning changes for the 2025 season,” reports Motorsport.uol.com.br. “There will be four independent teams. In the same way as this year, each team will have six cars on the grid.”
One team that has already revealed their plans to join NASCAR Brasil is famed Stock Car Pro Series outfit R.Mattheis Motorsport.
Formed by Rodolpho Mattheis in 2013 as a sister team to the renowned A.Mattheis Motorsport owned by his father Andreas, the Mattheis racing dynasty will be given the responsibility to help lead NASCAR Brasil into a new era.
“R.Mattheis is delighted to have been invited to take part in NASCAR Brasil,” announced the team on social media on 18 October 2024.
“NASCAR, the main category in North American motorsport, came to Brazil in 2023 under the management of Thiago Marques and Carlos Col, who have vast experience in managing motorsport competitions.”
“We have followed the growth and seriousness of the championship in recent years and being in a world category is a great honor for R.Mattheis.”
“We’re excited for 2025 and, in fact, flattered by the opportunity to manage six cars in NASCAR Brasil.”
