Another veteran EuroNASCAR driver is set to make their return on this weekend’s Autodrom Most NASCAR Show after Marko Stipp Motorsport announced that they have secured the services of veteran French driver Romain Iannetta yesterday.
“We are very happy to welcome Romain, an extremely experienced driver, to the team,” said MSM team owner Marko Stipp in the official announcement. “He has already won races and scored many podiums in EuroNASCAR. Our goal is to take up the fight and establish ourselves in the top 5 with Romain.”
A highly-experienced driver in EuroNASCAR with 65 starts, 2 career victories, and a third-place championship finish on his name, Iannetta is scheduled to drive the No. 46 SimThunder Chevrolet in the top EuroNASCAR PRO class for his first start in the series since his final full-time campaign with Racing Engineering in 2019.

Iannetta, who has been in touch with the team for an “extended period of time”, expressed his optimism for this weekend although he admitted that he would need to get used to the EuroNASCAR cars quickly as he hasn’t driven one since his final race at Zolder.
“The team’s presentation has inspired me with confidence and I thank Marko for giving me the trust to join Marko Stipp Motorsport,” said Iannetta in the announcement. “Our common goal is to finish in the top five – and why not a podium?”
“We haven’t done any testing and I haven’t driven in a EuroNASCAR car since the last race at Zolder in 2019. I think we will use the two free practices to get used to the car again and at the same time to discover the team.”

Iannetta has previously competed on Autodrom Most during the series’ first visit to the track in 2019. He only finished 18th in the first race after he tangled with Spanish driver Salvador Tineo Arroyo, but he bounced back in the following day to finish in 3rd place – his last EuroNASCAR podium to date and his only podium finish of the season.
Iannetta also expressed his gratitude towards series organizers’ Team FJ and praised his fellow drivers’ for the level of competition that they have produced during his time in EuroNASCAR.

“I have liked the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series since the beginning,” further adds Iannetta. “The American atmosphere, the organisation of Team FJ is exceptional in Europe, the format of the races and of course the many fans. In addition, the level is very high, the drivers are very fair for the most part. NASCAR cars are real race cars that are difficult and selective to drive.”
“For all these reasons, I am very happy to return to European NASCAR racing at Most this weekend after an absence of two years. I appreciate this fast and technical track where I achieved a podium in the 2019 season.”
