American driver and businessman Jason Friday looks for a chance to join NASCAR Euro Series in 2026 after a successful test with Lux Motorsport back in December.
NASCAR Euro Series is expected to welcome several new drivers to the grid when the 2026 season starts at Circuit Ricardo Tormo on 18-19 April.
So far, Henrik Peters has been announced as one of the newcomers joining the series. It’s certain that Peters will not be alone, and one driver that’s looking for this opportunity is 33-year old American Jason Friday.
The name might sound menacing – after all, Jason Voorhess is the main antagonist of the Friday the 13th film franchise – but make no mistake, Jason Friday is anything but scary.
Born in Falls Church, Virginia, Friday grew up with an American football background. He played as a quarterback for his high school J. E. B. Stuart High School, but chose to pursue motorsport after his graduation.
Friday first gained experience in the local grassroots scene. He then made an unusual decision to move to Germany, joining the German Touring Series where he “won a bunch of races, a championship, and earned multiple track records”, as described in his official website.
Unfortunately, the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 forced him to stop racing for five years.
During this time, the 6-foot-4, 195 pound driver started BAR-U-EAT with his friend Sam after getting inspiration from a handmade energy bar that Sam found during one trip to Iceland in 2014.
BAR-U-EAT, which described itself as “the most nutrient-dense, healthy, delicious, and sustainable snacks on the planet”, quickly gained popularity and is now available in 50 stores across the United States.
However, in 2025, Friday got his itch back and decided that it’s time to “finally chase my dream of racing professionally”.
One series that gained Friday’s attention is the NASCAR Euro Series, the European cousins to the NASCAR that he’s familiar at home.
With a goal to make his debut in 2026, Friday hooked up with Lux Motorsport to test the British team’s No. 21 Chevrolet Camaro at Circuits de Vendee.
To Friday’s luck, his test with Lux took place at the same time as the first edition of the 2026 Recruitment Test.
This gave Friday the chance to not only share his experience with Jack Davidson and the other Recruitment Test participants, but also to series CEO and founder Jerome Galpin.
It remains to be seen whether Friday is able to get a seat for 2026, but the test has further fueled his desire to become part of the NASCAR Euro Series family.
“I linked up with Lux Motorsport in Fontenay-le-Comte in France for the first day of testing in Euro NASCAR,” said Friday in his official website.
“With the temperature hovering just above freezing on a wet track and no sunlight, I had my hands full in the 400hp, zero nanny NASCAR.”
“After the first few sessions sliding through the corners and learning the track, I started picking up pace until I locked up the rears going into turn 1 and backed into the gravel trap.”
“After lunch, the track started drying out enough to put slicks on as I became more comfortable pushing the car more and more. By the time the next spat of rain came, I very narrowly threw down the best time of the day before we called it.”
“The Euro NASCAR is 100% a drivers car with no ABS or traction control and a sequential gear box. The thing is raw and handles surprisingly well in the corners.”
“I’ve never driven anything like it before, but very much looking forward to the next test before the season starts. Huge thanks to Lux Motorsport and NASCAR Euro Series for having me out!”
