PK Carsport received a “huge respect” from Thomas Dombrowski thanks to the Belgian team’s hard work to rebuild the Frenchman’s Camaro in just a single day.

Thomas Dombrowski puts a “huge respect” to PK Carsport for the hard work that they did in American SpeedFest 12. The Belgian team rebuilt the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro in just a single day after the Frenchman’s scary accident in Free Practice.

Dombrowski expressed his gratitude shortly after EuroNASCAR OPEN Race 1 was concluded. The Frenchman fought against the rain and confidence issues to secure a highly important fourth place finish.

“It’s crazy because I’m trying to get confidence with the car I crashed with yesterday under the rain,” said Dombrowski in his post-race interview. “It’s not the best way to do it.”

“We also raced with a very dry setup, so it’s really complicated. But, it’s okay. At least I’m here, that’s what I was saying to the team.”

“We saved points today because I could not have been here to race. Huge respect to the team for the job. Vittorio did P2 in the PRO race and I could drive here in P5, so good job to them.”

Several hours prior during the pre-race programme for EuroNASCAR PRO Race 1, Dombrowski gave his insight on how his Practice crash unfolds.

According to the Frenchman, he knew that there was nothing he could do once his front-right suspension failed on the run to Paddock Hill.

Dombrowski also states that a fire had occurred shortly after the crash, something that he admits was the “scariest part” of his accident.

“It was a big one,” explains Dombrowski. “The front-right wheel broke and I couldn’t do anything. It happened right at the braking point, so the speeds were really high – around 200 to 210 kph.”

“I tried my best to steer, but the car just went straight and it was a big hit. I knew it was going to happen, and I accepted it. All I can think is how much it was going to hurt when I crashed.”

“I rolled three times and landed on the roof. The scariest part was the fire. Seeing it really shook me. I’m not comfortable with that, so I tried to get out on the driver’s side, but the wall was in the way. It was really stressful.”

“I had to catch my breath and think about what to do. Luckily, I was able to get out through the passenger side. Then I collapsed to the ground a few times because of the pain and the adrenaline.”

“I went through all the checks in the hospitality area and got cleared to race. I took a big hit on my knee, but right now I don’t feel the pain anymore.”

Thanks to PK Carsport’s rebuilding job, Dombrowski was able to keep his position as a strong contender for the EuroNASCAR OPEN title.

Dombrowski is currently fourth in the standings with 188 points. His gap to new championship leader Melvin de Groot – who won the aforementioned Race 1 – is just 11 points.

The Frenchman also leads the overall classifications in the Master Trophy. Dombrowski holds an advantage of eight and seventeen points to Sandro Tavartkiladze and Bruno Mulders, his closest rivals in EuroNASCAR’s newest Trophy.
