Gil Linster will be entering this year’s ARCA Menards Series Daytona 200 race after he secured the funding that he needed to take part with Kimmel Racing.

Gil Linster is set to make his ARCA Menards Series debut at next month’s Daytona 200 – labeled as the Brandt 200 for this year – with Kimmel Racing after he secured the funding that he needed to enter ARCA’s traditional season opening round.

The news, which was officially announced on 24 January, follows upon Linster’s participation in the ARCA pre-season test at Daytona with Kimmel earlier this month.

During the test, Linster successfully earned himself a license to compete in the superspeedway races after his performance was deemed to be satisfactory enough for NASCAR and ARCA officials.

The Luxembourger, who finished third in the 2023 EuroNASCAR 2 season thanks to a win at Zolder and consistently scoring top-5 finishes, will be racing Kimmel’s No. 68 Ford Fusion for the Daytona 200, the same car that he tested during the Daytona test.

“A partner confirmed being on board for the ARCA race today,” said Linster, who still needs to qualify for a spot in the 34-car field, to euronascar.com. “We will officially be part of the ARCA Menards Series Daytona 200.”

“I’m really happy about this but I have no time to celebrate because there’s a lot of work coming in the next few weeks. We have to develop the design of the car, my racing suit and the helmet. We will sign the contracts and then I will pack my bag and travel to Daytona.”

Linster will follow the footsteps of drivers such as Jerry de Weerdt and Miguel Gomes, who had previously experienced the taste of ARCA racing with Patriot Motorsports Group and Young’s Motorsports respectively.

He is also currently still working to finalize a deal that will see the 30-year old continue his participation in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.

An announcement for Linster’s 2024 EuroNASCAR contract is expected to be announced soon. Linster has hinted that the undisclosed company that will sponsor him at Daytona “is also interested” to become his partner at selected EuroNASCAR races.
