After four years in EuroNASCAR, Patrick Schober starts a new story in McLaren Trophy Europe with Target Racing for 2026.
Patrick Schober will write a new chapter in his racing career starting from the 2026 season. Schober announced on 16 March 2026 that he will be joining McLaren Trophy Europe after four successful years in EuroNASCAR OPEN.
Schober is set to be competing with Target Racing on his debut McLaren Trophy season. This created an all-debutant line-up, as Target is also joining McLaren Trophy for the first time in 2026.
Schober finished his final EuroNASCAR OPEN campaign in 2025 in 7th place. He had his first winless season since 2022, but still scored four podium finishes and 5 other top-10 results.
“I’m very pleased to announce an important step in my international motorsport career,” announced Schober through social media.
“In the 2026 season I will compete in the McLaren Trophy for the successful Italian Target Racing team.”
“After successful years in formula racing and especially in the EuroNASCAR series, where I was able to develop into one of the strongest young drivers, this represents the next big step for me into international GT racing.”
Schober will retain his group of sponsorships and partners heading to the new season, most notably motorSPORTaktiv.
“The foundation of my motorsport career was laid very early,” added Schober. “Already in karting I discovered my passion for racing and was able to quickly develop into a promising young driver.”
“An important part of my development was also the cooperation with Robert Wagner and his organization motorSPORTaktiv.at, which has been dedicated for many years to supporting young motorsport talents from Austria.”
Schober had previously tested the McLaren Trophy cars when he was invited to a test at Circuito de Navarra on 3-5 February 2026.
The Navarra test opened the Pandora box for Schober, but at the time Schober was still weighing his options between a fifth season in EuroNASCAR or a switch to McLaren Trophy.
With Schober now confirming his decision, he is ready to show that he’s ready to reach the next level in sports car racing.
He will be joined at Target by Riccardo Ianniello and Gregor Jeets, who will share one of the McLaren Artura Trophy EVO’s together.
“From the very first laps I felt very comfortable in the car,” said Schober about his McLaren Trophy test experience. “Despite the new vehicle category for me, I was able to deliver consistently fast lap times and provide the engineers with very good technical feedback.”
“The second decisive step followed in March 2026. I took part in another test as part of the McLaren Trophy EVO at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza.”
“On this famous high-speed circuit I was able to confirm my performance from Navarra. In particular, my quick adaptation to the car and my consistency over several stints impressed the engineers and team management.”
“Shortly afterwards I received fantastic news. I signed a contract with the Italian Target Racing team for the 2026 McLaren Trophy season.”
“Together with McLaren and the Target Racing team, I want to further develop my career in international professional motorsport and establish myself long-term in GT racing.”
