Vittorio Ghirelli is a two-time NASCAR Euro Series champion after he completed his sweep in the 2025 EuroNASCAR Finals at Circuit Zolder.
Vittorio Ghirelli is the king of NASCAR Euro Series for the second consecutive year. The Italian swept the 2025 EuroNASCAR Finals to continue his reign as the best driver in the championship.
Ghirelli’s triumph was done under dramatic circumstances. EuroNASCAR’s grand finale of 2025 was briefly red flagged for a scary incident that involved Giorgio Maggi, Jack Davidson and Claudio Remigio Cappelli.
In spite of this, Ghirelli held on to his lead across all 18 laps to bring home his second championship ring with the No. 24 infitto.eu Camaro.
“This is an amazing performance!” said Ghirelli in Victory Lane. “I can’t thank my team PK Carsport enough, they’re really unbelievable. I’m so happy, it was so hard in the beginning but we made it. Now it’s time to celebrate with my guys!”
The aforementioned incident between Maggi, Davidson and Cappelli happened shortly after the start of the race. It began when Maggi and Davidson made contact in Sterrenwachtbocht (Turn 2), which took down the left-front tire of Davidson’s No. 21 GT Omega Camaro.
Both drivers made contact again at Kanaalbocht (Turn 3). Through some means, this collision lifted Maggi’s No. 33 Sud-Ouest Remorques Ford Mustang to the hood of Davidson’s pink machine.
Maggi’s car then flipped upside down and entered into a violent roll. The Swiss’ Ford flipped nine times, completely destroying the fiberglass bodywork as it tumbled in the air.
Miraculously, Maggi was able to walk away without any major injuries. Davidson and Claudio Remigio Cappelli – who got dragged into the accident because the Italian was stuck on the outside – came to Maggi to check on his condition shortly after the incident.
The race was stopped for approximately 18 minutes. It was resumed after one lap behind the Mini safety car, but caution was triggered just two laps later when Krasonis crashed at Lucien Bianchibocht (Turn 4) after contact with Liam Hezemans.
Ghirelli retained after their respective restarts from Thomas Toffel, who put in a day to remember in the No. 34 Toffel Immobilier Camaro.
Toffel had been under fire after he was involved in the start incident in both Saturday races. Determined to put his doubters wrong, Toffel tailed and kept up with Ghirelli in second position for the whole race.
The Swiss was just 1.109 seconds away from a shock first win in his career. This runner-up finish also marked his best EuroNASCAR PRO finish, improving on the third place that he got at the 2024 NASCAR GP Germany.
The final podium position was completed by Bruno Mulders, who gained his first top class podium after a relentless drive with the No. 72 Race Planet Toyota Camry.
Mulders made history with this podium, as he became the youngest EuroNASCAR PRO podium finisher at the age of 17 years and 287 days.
The Dutchman was almost a full year younger than the previous record holder Riccardo Geltrude. Geltrude was 18 years and 282 days old when he got his only EuroNASCAR PRO podium at Tours in 2016.
Liam Hezemans and Gianmarco Ercoli completed the top-5 ahead of Paul Jouffreau. Jouffreau easily won the bonus positions for most positions gained, having fought his way from 24th position on the grid after his opening lap retirement on Saturday.
Davit Kajaia, Julien Rehberg, Garrett Lowe and Sebastiaan Bleekemolen rounded out the top-10 positions. Behind Bleekemolen was a photo finish for 11th position. Ryan Vargas’ late surge allowed the American to beat Vladimiros Tziortzis by a mere 0.002 seconds.
Yevgen Sokolovskiy and Federico Monti completed the 14 finishers. The race was highly attritional: Four other drivers joined Maggi, Davidson, Cappelli and Krasonis in the retirement list, while three others did not even start the race.
Marc Goossens and Ulysse Delsaux were both forced to retire on lap 10 with mechanical troubles. Contact between Chase Fernandez and Fabrizio Armetta was the cause of their respective retirements on lap 7.
Martin Doubek and Igor Stefanovski had issues that prevented them from going out to the track, while Max Lanza suffered a terminal mechanical failure during the formation lap.

Gianmarco Ercoli finished 2025 as championship runner-ups, 46 points behind his great rival Ghirelli. Ercoli was frustrated with Ghirelli’s astonishing pace on Saturday, but he regained his smile on Sunday and gave Ghirelli the thumbs up as they celebrated in the championship podium ceremony.

Liam Hezemans and Sebastiaan Bleekemolen completed the top-5 standings with 455 and 437 points respectively. Liam tied his career-best championship finish in EuroNASCAR PRO, while Sebastiaan set a new career-best result – his previous best was sixth in 2022.

In the Challenger Trophy, the battle ended in a dead heat between Davit Kajaia and Claudio Remigio Cappelli for 13th in the standings.
