An incomplete repair job for the No. 88 CAAL Racing Chevrolet Camaro is the reason for Max Lanza’s switch to the No. 89 machine at Autodrom Most.

Max Lanza revealed the reasoning on why he is entering the 2025 NASCAR GP Czech Republic with the No. 89 CAAL Racing Camaro in a recent press release.

Lanza stated that his usual machine, the No. 88 Avangarde Group Camaro, had not been fully repaired from its heavy shunt at American SpeedFest.

The Italian admitted that he came close to being forced to sit out the round at Autodrom Most before CAAL came into contact with the opportunity to race the No. 89 TEKNA Camaro.

“I’m truly grateful to CAAL Racing for this opportunity,” said Lanza in his press release. “I had already resigned myself to skipping the Most round and saying goodbye to my chance of winning [the overall Challenger Trophy] when this opportunity came along!”

“The #88 is still a bit battered after the tough crash in England, but its spirit will be with me in the #89. I won’t have my usual colors, but all my partners will continue to support me in this wonderful adventure that never ceases to amaze.”

“In a normal world I would have stayed home watching the others on TV, but here we are in the NASCAR Euro Series, and on Friday I’ll be behind the wheel of a race car. I can’t wait!”

Lanza currently sits 17th in the standings after a tough start to his 2025 EuroNASCAR PRO season. Despite this, the 45-year old trails Claudio Remigio Cappelli and Davit Kajaia in the overall Challenger Trophy battle by only 11 and 10 points respectively.

Lanza will be the sole driver of the No. 88 crew to race in Czechia. Davide Frulio, the regular driver of the No. 89 car, will compete alongside Lanza in EuroNASCAR OPEN and EuroNASCAR Rookie Challenge.
