Alon Day will race Sam Hunt Racing’s No. 24 Toyota Camry for the Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway next month.
EuroNASCAR legend Alon Day receives another shot at competing in the United States in 2025. The Israeli will join Sam Hunt Racing (SHR) for the Pacific Office Automation 147 at Portland International Raceway (PIR) on 30 August.
Day’s deal with SHR was announced on 24 July, confirming his return to NASCAR Xfinity Series after an unsuccessful attempt to qualify for Chicago in 2024 with Alpha Prime Racing.
“Four-time NASCAR Euro Series champion Alon Day will compete for Sam Hunt Racing next month in the Xfinity Series race at Portland International Raceway,” reports Jayski on 25 July.
“Day will drive the No. 24 Toyota, which has made starts with Christopher Bell, Ryan Truex, Corey Heim and Kaz Grala during the 2025 season. It will be Day’s fourth career start, though he wrecked during practice last year at the Chicago Street Course and missed the race entirely.”
Day has been busy with maximizing his three-race deal with Venturini Motorsports in the ARCA Menards Series. He finished second at Lime Rock and third at Sonoma, proving that he can transfer the skills that he gained in EuroNASCAR to the road courses in the States.
Day still has one more race to go with Venturini, which is the General Tire 100 at Watkins Glen on 8 August.
With Day joining SHR at Portland, he will be unable to attend EuroNASCAR’s NASCAR GP Czechia – which is hosted in the same weekend as the Xfinity Portland meeting.
The Israeli acted as the driver coach and mentor for PK Carsport’s Thomas Krasonis, who currently sits inside the top-5 in the standings for both EuroNASCAR PRO and OPEN.
