Vladimiros Tziortzis believes that he had done “everything I could” to secure two strong results in the 2025 American SpeedFest 12.
Consistency is the name of the game for Cyprus driver Vladimiros Tziortzis in the 2025 NASCAR Euro Series season. Two tenth place finishes in Brands Hatch brings Tziortzis’ top-10 tally up to five.
Tziortzis was fortunate to not encounter more engine issues in American SpeedFest 12. Engine issues, specifically overheating, had hampered the Cypriot’s progress in previous rounds at Valencia and Vallelunga.
Unfortunately, poor Qualifying would create more problems for Tziortzis. SpeedHouse’s lead driver started from 13th position and opportunities to advance forward in the Saturday race were scarce, given Brands Hatch’s reputation as a very difficult track to make overtakes.
After all, it is Tziortzis’ former teammate at Academy Motorsport Claudio Remigio Cappelli who coined the term “Monte Carlo without houses” for the Indy Circuit.
Tziortzis salvaged a tenth place finish, aided by retirements from drivers in front of him. Sunday followed a similar story. Fastest lap times from Race 1 left Tziortzis down in 14th at the start of Race 2.
Things got interesting when Martin Doubek crashed into him on the restart at Druids corner. There were good aspects and bad aspects that resulted from this incident.
The good news is that it was Doubek who ended up the worst, the Czech having spun his No. 7 Orion Ford around. The bad news is that the contact sent Tziortzis to Cappelli, the car in front of him.
This contact with Cappelli was enough to create a bothering cosmetic damage to Tziortzis’ No. 64 HTFX Ford.
“After the safety car left, the cars in front of me stopped immediately,” explains Tziortzis in his press release to Cyprus Mail. “That’s why I had to brake and Doubek hit me from behind, causing me to end up on top of the car in front of me and the hood to lift.”
“I could barely see anything from the driver’s seat. I tried to follow the car in front through a small window and be able to finish.”
The Cypriot carried on to another top-10 finish, bringing home important points for both himself and SpeedHouse.
“I’m still eighth in the overall championship standings,” said Tziortzis. “I’m satisfied because I did everything I could, as I could have missed Sunday’s race after a hit that I got from behind.”
In the midst of these struggles, Tziortzis is still feeling positive after what happened on Sunday morning warm-up. During that session, SpeedHouse mechanics found a setup that greatly improves the Cypriot’s speed.
Tziortzis believes that this setup gains will help him in the upcoming rounds at Most, Oschersleben and Zolder.
“I feel that from the Czech Republic I will have the car with the grip I want,” said a hopeful Tziortzis. “After a long time, it seemed that on Sunday morning we found what suits us.”
“I had hoped that this solution would help me in the second race in England. However, when you start 14th on such a small track where the others can defend very easily, there’s not much you can do.”
“Now the attention turns to the Czech Republic. Since I have the traction I had at Brands Hatch, I’m positive that in qualifying we will be where we deserve to be, so that we will be well ahead in the starting grid.”
