In an interview with Autosportwereld, Anthony Kumpen said that PK Carsport will be focusing their 2025 efforts in EuroNASCAR due to calendar clashes with Belcar.

A recent interview conducted by Joost Custers from Autosportwereld with PK Carsport’s team boss Anthony Kumpen revealed some exclusive insights behind the decisions that PK has made for the 2025 racing season.
Kumpen said to Custers and Autosportwereld that PK Carsport have to “make choices” during the off-season. This choice refers to which championship PK will focus their efforts in 2025: EuroNASCAR or Belcar.

Traditionally, PK Carsport maintains a solid presence in both EuroNASCAR and Belcar. For instance, in 2024 they ran Vittorio Ghirelli’s championship-winning EuroNASCAR team and an Audi R8 LMS GT2 in Belcar for Bert Longin’s final swansong.
However, it seems that 2025 will be a year where the Belgian team is going all-in to EuroNASCAR given their recent expansion announcement.
Kumpen explains that this decision was influenced by the calendar clashes that the two championships have for this year.
“We have to make choices last winter,” Kumpen said to Autosportwereld. “But when we’re looking at the motorsport calendar [for 2025], the option quickly becomes clear.”
“There are three Belcar meetings, including the 24 Hours of Zolder, which coincide with a NASCAR weekend. Finishing both championships at a high level becomes almost impossible as a result. That’s why we chose to put everything on NASCAR.”
A funny coincidence is that all three Belcar rounds that coincided with EuroNASCAR are the ones scheduled to be held at Circuit Zolder, PK’s home circuit.
The aforementioned 24 Hours of Zolder, scheduled for 30-31 August, will coincide with the NASCAR GP Czech Republic at Autodrom Most.
Belcar’s opening and final rounds will also clash with EuroNASCAR. The opener at 17-18 May coincides with the NASCAR GP Italy at Vallelunga, while the final at 11-12 October is a joint event with EuroNASCAR’s own Finals.
As of the writing of this article, the status of PK Carsport’s Belcar team remains a mystery. Nevertheless, Kumpen is confident that PK has what it takes to win all available EuroNASCAR titles in 2025.
“We are indeed present everywhere this season,” Kumpen explains to Autosportwereld. “Both in the PRO and OPEN championships as well as in the Teams, for which the points from both drivers’ championship matter.”
“Vittorio Ghirelli obviously wants to extend his PRO title. His No. 24 Camaro is driven in the OPEN category by Thomas Dombrowski, who was already active with us in Zolder at the end of last year.”
“The No. 13 is driven in both PRO and OPEN by Thomas Krasonis. Last year he was third in the Junior Trophy and also came third in the OPEN standings.”
“This year he is aiming for the title and with former NASCAR champion Alon Day as his coach, he already has a strong asset in his hands.”
“It’s going to be a busy NASCAR season, but that’s how we like it! With our four drivers, we have everything to be strong at every meeting. We will try to win all the titles.”
