A sportscar racing veteran that had secured numerous championship titles in various GT-based series across the globe, Gaël Castelli made a brief cameo in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series when he joined Rapido Racing for a one-off in the 2012 season’s final round at Le Mans.
Despite having never driven a stock car prior to his Le Mans appearance and being ineligible for championship points, Castelli shocked the paddock by winning both EuroNASCAR PRO races that were held that weekend.
Because he has never returned to EuroNASCAR ever since, the results at Le Mans gave Castelli the recognition as the only driver to have a 100% percentage in winning record, podium finishing record and fastest lap record in EuroNASCAR’s top division.
