Profile:

Stock car racing is a motorsport category that won the hearts of many racing fans in Italy. The roaring thunder of V8 engines has attracted many Italian drivers and teams to try their luck in the NASCAR Euro Series, one of whom being Davide Amaduzzi.

A journeyman who raced various forms of open-wheel, sports car and touring car categories for more than three decades, Amaduzzi is unique from many of his compatriots. The driver from Bologna already had experience in the United States when he made his EuroNASCAR debut in 2013.

Amaduzzi first tried his hands on stock car racing in 2010 when he took part in two ARCA Truck Series races for Wilson Motorsports. He predictably struggled on his oval debut, finishing 13th out of 14 drivers at Lorain. He quickly adapted and took home seventh in the season finale at Salem.

After a brief return to Italy in 2011, Amaduzzi jumped to the US to race in the NASCAR Weekly Series in 2012. His success was enough to secure a K&N West call-up in 2013. Later in the year, a new NASCAR opportunity arrived for Amaduzzi, but not from where he had expected.

Back in Europe, Massimo di Lonardo tried his hands in fielding a team known as T-Engineering in the NASCAR Euro Series. Italy’s first EuroNASCAR team needed a driver for EuroNASCAR’s first championship oval race at Tours Speedway and saw that Amaduzzi fits his requirement nicely.

Amaduzzi accepted the offer and found himself in the seat for the No. 68 Chevrolet SS in EuroNASCAR’s top division. His US oval skills paid off immediately as he took a surprise podium finish on his very first race.

He competed for the rest of the season, but struggled to repeat the highs from Tours due to reliability issues. Unfortunately, T-Engineering closed its doors at the end of the season. Amaduzzi was left without a seat, but it was not the end of his racing career.

The Italian resumed his journeyman status, albeit now accepting opportunities to race all around the world. He even won a NASCAR Weekly Series race at Tucson in 2018, becoming the first Italian to win a NASCAR Weekly sanctioned race.

Then in 2021, an unexpected call once again came to Amaduzzi. This time, it was from Luca Canneori, team boss of CAAL Racing.

CAAL’s main driver for the No. 56 car that year, Marc Goossens, was unable to race in the season finale at Vallelunga due to schedule conflicts. Canneori needed someone to replace the Belgian and found the opportunity to sign Amaduzzi for a one-off.

Eight years and 17 days after the 2013 finale in Le Mans, Amaduzzi geared himself for another shot in EuroNASCAR. He brought home a double finish, which remains to be his last start in stock car racing to date.

Amaduzzi continued his journeyman career since then. He also began to dabble in punditry, becoming an official pundit for Telestense’s Processo al Gran Premio.
